Unless they're used, expect a good hosing. Shipping counts for probably 60% of the cost no matter where you buy. I like Tractor Supply, but again, it's expensive. But they usually always have what you need.
You can only get a good deal if you buy a large tote generally. I went with a 100 gallon leg tank from Tractor Supply. You have to be mindful of the DOT restrictions when it comes to the Gallons you can transport.

The reason for wanting to carry 400 gallons total is so i can clean as many roofs per day with out having to refill. i dont want to be in a situation where i can send a crew out and they can only clean 2 houses before having to come back to the shop to resupply..
I'm also thinking of getting a 500 gallon tank for the shop and get SH in bulk..
I think there's a lot of time wasted with running a profitable business just from the logistic standpoint of having materials and organization every day.
JC,
A 100 gallons of SH will make around 350 gallons of mix. If you use that in a day for residential then you are the man. Average 2 story roof will use about 40-60 gallons of mix.
Are you planning to treat the whole roof or just the bad side?
I plan on treating full roofs, not just bad sides.. i think customers are happier if you tell them upfront that treating the entire roof will ensure it doesnt come back for a long time.. i always say, even though you dont see it "yet" we should still treat it..
as for how much material ill use, i'm hoping to get up to at least 4 roofs a day, i have a marketing idea that i think will help achieve this pretty quickly.
i know thats a steep "want" but its what I'm marketing for. I've learned that while the internet works great for some business models, I think that roof cleaning/pressure washing/ deck cleaning isnt a industry where most customers search out the service.. its more of a end cap/emotional sale type of industry..
i have a friend that runs his business through adwords, for his industry it makes total sense.. but i think for ours, its more of a service that you have to put infront of the customers for them to want to buy it... thats why i'm investing A LOT into direct marketing/mailers, and those type of media that keeps the thought infront of the customers... i figure they'll see it, and say, hmm my roof has that crap on it, let me call these guys..

Jc, I agree with you as far as treating the whole roof. Anytime i hear guys saying they just do one side to me is an injustice for the customer and your company. My company always treats the whole roof.
If you plan on 4 roofs a day. then carrying a 100 gallons of SH will be plenty. Remeber DOT only allows for 119 gallons before you are required to be placard up along with a cdl.
I have done 4 roofs along with each house being washed in one day ( they were on the same street) but we brought a 100 gallons with us and only used 80. Hope this helps. It was a LONG DAY.
