Kim, costa delmar glasses are made in Daytona beach and are one of if not the best polarized glasses in the world. I did a job recently for an eye doctor and he went on and on about how good the glasses I was wearing were for my eyes.

They aren't the cheapest but they are really good for your eyes. They make 2 types of lens but the 400 series are just fine.

Yep. Costas for me too.... expensive... I think I paid $165 for mine, and about a month after I had them, my son dropped them onto the concrete, cracking the lens.  Sent them back to Costa, and they fixed them and returned them (for a fee).

Every day I get SH/water mist sprayed back into my face while cleaning, and actually today the lenses got splashed with pure SH, and they just wipe off fine... no effects to the mirrored finish at all...  I clean them with one of those little spandex wipey thingy's that came with them I think.

I always were goggles over sunglasses. Without splash guards on the sunglasses, you are taking a risk of getting the chems. in your eyes. Protect them! Always use your PPE. You do not want to loose your eyesight.

I typically wear prescription RayBans with plastic lenses, and have had no problems with roof mix nor SH leaving permanent marks on them.  I couldn't imagine working with out sunglasses.  It'd be brutal on my eyes.

I almost never take my glasses off. I always wore polarized glasses when I played golf because it took the glare off of the green and I could read it better. If I take them off during the day I start sneezing ( have no idea why) and get a headache almost immediately. 7am to 7pm they are on!!

I buy the multiple pack of cheap safety sunglasses from SAMs club. Wear them for a week or two, and always have plenty for the crew.

My Costas were a Godsend back when I drove for a living. I take good care of them and I've been wearing cheap polarized glasses since I started doing this. Today the cheapies allowed overspray in my left eye twice (once by my nose & once on the outside). Adios cheapies.

Polarized sunglasses, a big wide brimmed hat, long sleeved lightweight shirt, proper respirator, footwear and sunblock are a must! And yes......I have been up on roofs. I believe in truly understanding the industries in which I deal with. I feel for you guys and ladies......it is haaaaaaard work. Tile roofs are hard core!!! Going with a $10 pair of polarized glasses from Walmart will pay for themselves. They are easier on your eyes and seem to stave off fatigue from the glare up there. I am a HUGE FAN of Costa Del Mar polarized sunglasses and Google shopping. One you have seen the world through Costa's, it is hard to go back to anything else. I am a light eye, fair complected person that is certain to need cataract surgery as well as skin grafts for skin cancer. During play in the outdoors and on a fishing boat, I always wear sunglasses that sort of wrap around my little face. Incidentally, it is hard to find sunglasses for the little people out there! I am really really sensitive to the bright light hitting me from any direction and especially the sides. I have had good luck shopping at Sierra Trading Post in the off seasons.

Ryan, that sneezing is a physiological reaction to direct sunlight. I will look for the name of it. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=looking-at-the-sun-can-trigger-a-sneeze
