I have a ground man but I let him do the hard stuff while I push a button and guide the hose.

I do not have zoning laws but I have a big garage that it stays in at night so it does not come up missing.  Thanks for the compliment gutterdog.

It is going to be interesting to see how an electric hose reel holds up to chlorine fumes. I once bought an old lawn spray truck with a giant Summit Electric Hose Reel, decided to try it. It lasted almost a month, but it was used, so you know how that goes. I looked at the price of repair for it, and decided to stick a Titan on. I am not "thrilled" with the Titan reels either, and feel they can stand a LOT of improvement.

What is really needed for a roof cleaning hose reel is one made out of shhedule 80 PVC, or something besides Metal for the insides.

Chris so what hose reel do you recommend me getting, as of now I just wrap it up around my 35 gallon water tank, actually that works well.

Thank you Chris, I know from reading here you are one of the "Kings" of roof cleaning.

I looked at both systems, air and 12V, and the cost pointed to the 12V.

And of course PT is the only one who has a kit for sale, I want to use a pallet and mount it on the truck.

I was really excited a fews back about the whole thing, then came the small hail storm, and many around here are looking at new roofs, this sort of bummed me out.

If it works out as planned, the Yamada and air compressor are next.

Thanks for sharing your business success with all of us!!!!

Kits???? Pressure Washer Products has some roof cleaning equipment kits made to order.  We send out many different types of kits.  We make them per the request of the customer.  Each hose is custom cut to length and crimped with one of our two hydraulic crimpers.   We make beautiful stands for our Titan hose reels that act as houses for the pumps.  I have posted pics on this forum and sent them upon request.

We do not use battery boxes for anything other than the batteries.  Battery boxes are made for batteries.  It is too hot in these humid states where the roof cleaning seems to be popular to use little black coffins for those TEFC pumps.

Please drill some holes in the box at the bottom if you are going to keep it.

Don't use teflon tape.  Use pipe dope.  Get rid of that super soft 1/2" supply line feeding that hungry Fatboy.  The general rule of thumb that is preached regarding pumps on the suction side of the pump is as follows:  Double the id of the hose in comparison to the thread size at the pump.  For example, the Fatboy and 5850 have a 1/2" FNPT on the inlet side of the pump.  To correctly follow this widely accepted 'rule', use a 1" id hose that remains somewhat rigid when it is warm.  You DO NOT WANT THAT HOSE TO BE ABLE TO COLLAPSE under suction.  Go to a hardware store and get a length of ag hose measured to cover the distance from the bottom of your tank to the inlet of your pump and take it to the local hydraulic shop and have them crimp on a 1/2" mpt x 1" brass hose barb with a brass ferrule to that length of ag hose.  (Do not use a suction hose more than 13-14 feet long.  The Delavan will not prime)  Please crimp the end on to ensure that you do not have an air leak on the suction side of the pump.  Using hose clamps, hose barbs and teflon tape will give you the strong possibility of future problems.

GET RID OF THAT STAINLESS STEEL filter and hose barb that will sit in that tank of LOVE, corrode and end up slicing up the diaphrams in your FATBOY.  I would rather you not use a filter than to use one that is made of something that will ruin your pump. (Marcus, great job on noticing the filter problem!)

From a business perspective, your down time costs me money and time, too.  I would much rather our customers have minimal or zero down time.  I worry about you guys...

So far, our customers that use the proper upsized hose on suction and discharge, do not have the problems that we take technical calls for after 5 pm and on the weekends.  We find that the guys that use 1/2" hose all the way around have more pressure switch problems and the need for new pumps than our customers that plumb the pumps properly and according to basic plumbing guidelines.

This sounds harsh.....If you want problems with that pump, keep it the way it came.  If you want that pump to last, please follow the advice of the guys on this board.  Mike Sullivan among many others is a remarkable resource for information on those 12 Volt pumps.

I tried to buy from Lori, but the "quik kit" from PT was priced right, I wish PWP would put a kit together and compete against PT................on the same note I hope to have some extra $$ after my roof gets done to order an air set up from her and keep the box kit for a back up..........

Holy crap, I don't think I can sit down after getting "ripped" by you.......what I meant was I had you put things together for me on paper, and after my better half saw the PT kit and its price, made the choice to go that route........cry

Trust me the small filter is trashed, I went with a 3/4 hose from HD, and made a 3/4 filter out of PVC, drilled some holes(could not find the type you posted)

After reading all that PWP does I will be getting an air pump, I hope to clear some $$ after all this insurance stuff is over.

I want to get it right, the last thing I want is issues in front of a homeowner.........

Sorry if I didn't make it clear the first time......... I need some ice for my hineysmile

Nice Rig Marcus!!
Anthony, if you are planning on mounting your tank to the pallet you spoke of as well, the pallet will not last with SH getting on it every day. The thin wood and nails will literally fall apart from the SH damage and the vibrations.

Good thinking on the plstic pallet.  When those straps get eaten up switch em to steel.  Good work.

After blowing my poly hose four times(twice in the box and twice at my reel) I changed it to 3\4 pex pipe. So far so good.

Yes it will be interesting to see how the Titan electric hose reel holds up to chlorine fumes.

The hose reel on the bottom of the stack is electric also.  It was made by Cox.  I have been using it for 5 years with no electrical problems so far.  It holds 500' of heavy power washing hose and has been nice not getting arm pump cramps as we average cleaning 3-5 homes a day.  Its frame is made of steel & I am constantly having to paint it.

I like that the Titan frame is made of aluminum.  It should hold up better.  The Cox is gear driven where as the Titan is chain driven.  I will keep the chain generously lubed on the Titan.  I only use the Cox to hold hose.  I have never pumped SH through it because they did not offer the center fluid pipe in it in SS like the Titan.  The Titan on the other hand I am pumping SH through.

I am surprised that no one noticed the antenna on the back side of the hose reels.  It receives remote signals from up to 300' away so that the PLC (programmable logic controller or computer) that it is hooked up to can start/stop the pressure washers, turn on/off the injection of chemicals through a solenoid, & turn on/off my roof pump from envirospec.  Saves on relays.  Soon to be hooked up to a fatboy.

Why the fatboy when I have an all-flo?  Redundancy.  My 1st roof that I cleaned with the all-flo my rigid air compressor died.  Fortunately it was wihin its 30 day warranty from Home Depot so I took it back later and got another, no questions asked.  Half way through the roof cleaning job  I started having problems.  When the compressor would reach full pressure and shoud have throttled down, it would die instead.  I kept using the air pump until I needed more air and then I would start up the compressor again.  When I finished the job and was going to rinse all of the hoses out the compressor died premanently and would no longer start.  I had to roll everything up while manually draining the hoses into a tank.  When I got home I flushed everything out with the compressor in my garage.  Thank God the compressor did not die before the job was finished.  I called Lori the next day and ordered another back up all-flo & a fatboy.  There is nothing more embarrasing than not being able to finish a job because of equipment failure and having to tell the customer that you can not come back for a week or 2 because of prior commitments to other customers.

Do you take any special precautions to keep the love from eating up the guts of your hose reels? I've considered getting some nicer ones ( not as fancy as yours) but am concerned about the longevity of them.

Marcus....Incredible!  That is a COMMERCIAL RIG!  I love that antenna.  That is a FANTASTIC idea!  Where can the guys get these?

That is an unbelievable hose reel stack!  You have the luxury of pushing buttons to reel up that heavy hose.  I like the way you mounted the All-Flo pump on the little aluminum mount.  It is up and out of the way.

What is in the black drum?  It is widely accepted that acid is kept in drums.

Beautiful!

Just a suggestion:

I would paint that trailer with truckliner, like herculiner or something or the love will eat it.

I flush all chemicals out after every job and then run water through the lines while I put everything else away & cleanup after the job.  Reels are another expendable item.  This is my 1st time to run SH through a reel.  Everyone else does it so I decided to give it a try.  I will also keep the chain heavily oiled.

Marcus....Incredible!  That is a COMMERCIAL RIG!  I love that antenna.  That is a FANTASTIC idea!  Where can the guys get these?

Thank you Lori.  This is my 4th trailer.  I am  am quite happy with the layout.  I used the skills that I learned in college to build it.  I have a degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Engineering.  I would like to take credit for having designed the on board PLC, but I did not.  I bought it 5 or 6 years ago for $1400 from MPI (Machine Products Inc).  My contacts there are David Walter & Dave Garett @ (731) 613-2031 they are located at 25G Stonebrook Place in ackson, TN 38305.  The unit is an RWC-2207A.  I have 2 of thesed PLCs that I use.  All of the electronic components are mounted inside a NEMA 4 enclosure and encapsulated in epoxy.  In other words it is SH impervious.  Wires that connect to the NEMA box are military grade.  It comes with the capability of being able to start/stop a pressure washer and turn on/off 2 solenoids.  It can be controlled remotely from up to 300' away.

That is an unbelievable hose reel stack!  You have the luxury of pushing buttons to reel up that heavy hose.  I like the way you mounted the All-Flo pump on the little aluminum mount.  It is up and out of the way.

Yes it is a luxury but I look at it as a time saver and time is money.  The faster I can pack up the sooner I can get to the next job.  At the end of the day I am not dog tired from having to hand roll up hoses.

The All-Flo pump is mounted to the aluminum mount that you supplied wih the pump.  The aluminum mount is the attached to an 1/8" thich steel plate that is welded to the frame.  I wil attach the other one that you are sending me on the opposite bak side of the reel mount frame.  Depending on the size of the fat boy that you are sending me I hope to mount it upside down between the 2 All-Flo pumps.

What is in the black drum?  It is widely accepted that acid is kept in drums.

Beautiful!

Read the label on the black drum closely and you might be able to read NAOCL ie SH.  I get my SH in 55 gal drums and load them on the trailer.  When cleaning a roof I put 1 or 2 empty drums on the back of the trailer and mix my roof cleaning mix on the job.  If I have 2 or more jobs I can load up to 2 more SH 55 gal drums on the front of the trailer beside the hose reels.  The clear 200' gal tank holds water

Happy Birthday to me,  Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me,  Happy Birthday to me. roof cleaning
