It is keeping itself up by how tight the connections are. If it trys to go one way it will be tightening one connection. If it trys to go the other way it will be tightening the other connection.

The only way it will move back and forth is if the reel moves back and forth but the reel is bolted down.

Your best bet is to use the search button and take a look around at what's out there and then work on a set up that's right for you. There are a lot of things to consider; bugdet, trailer vs pick up, air vs 12v ... so it's best to familiarize yourself with the options that are available then make a decision on what's right for you.

Some guys will recommend buying the best from the start. My opinion would be to start with something simple, learn what you're doing, make the proper adjustments, then use the revenue you make and invest in a system that fits your business.
