can use ladder racks or "J hooks" to loop hoses around for quick releasing. search "rigs" etc for examples.

the green hose is an example of what i mean of quick release looping

I have spend a year on going threw the hose reel. I rinse after every job and have not had any issues but was thinking about by passing the hose reel. Anyone care to share how they have by passed the hose reel.

I just use my hose reels as storage for the hose. I got tired of the leaks and bad swivels. Unroll however much I need per job.

I agree with Ray, I bypass the swivel hook up to tank after I unroll it. I talked to Bob from pressure tank about his reels and if the swivel leaks and he said they don't leak because of what he uses to seal them....I forgot what it was but give him a call.

I have reccommended against the use of hose reels for years. They will ALL leak, and ruin your chit! Plus, they rob you of pressure and flow. On all our trucks (flatbeds) we have a bed mounted plastic storage box that holds tarps. We simply wrap the hose around this box.

If we dont need all 300 feet of hose, the large wrapping of the hose on the box is much better then coiled up hose on a reel, as far as fllow and pressure drop goes.

Sure, it looks like chit vs a nice neat hose reel, but then, we have nothing to prove. Our trucks are funky and rusty, the sign of a working roof cleaner!

Bob from PT has told me to rinse at the end of every day an the hose reel will last a long time. I rinse after each roof and i have hardly any rust or corrosion on my hose reel. Im starting a new build this week and just figured I would take the steps to make my system more efficient and take preventative steps towards eliminating breakdowns. I like hose reels and they make my job easier but I realize they will break and need fixing.

I would like to see how to best do this too. My titan stainless steel blah blah blah best reel is already showing signs of leaking and this was it's first season on the trucks. I am going to bypass the manifold when I rebuild this winter too... Any pictures or suggestions are appreciated.

I posted a video in Brian's new build thread of how I did mine. You can call me if you have any questions.

I buy the cheapest reals possible and install 1/2 QC's. A 1/2" coupler x Male and screw it right into the pump. Keep that fkr lubed with the grease of your choice. I like heat proof grease. Which is the same chit as Hilti grease. Keep some 1/2" buna o-rings on stand by. Make sure everything gets rinsed out.
