I have a newer v6 Ford Ranger with a tow package. It has a trans cooler and geared for towing. I need an enclosed trailer and need help sizing my limit. It will carry a hot water unit. Seperate skid and hot box weighing roughly 500-600lbs combined. Plus another 200 lbs of hardware. On my rear bumper near the hitch says Max Gross Trailer Weight 2000 lbs and Max Tongue Weight 200lbs. Can anyone help me size up the right enclosed trailer max size?

That sounds like the limits for towing from the bumper. If you have a hitch mounted to the frame, the limits should be a bit higher, probably 500/5000. I would keep the trailer relatively small. Maybe a 5x10 - 6x12 single axle which are rated just over 2000# gvrw. The only problem I see is if you are hauling water.

I am using a 5 x 10 open trailer and have already out grown that size with just roof and house wash equipment. I have a 6 x 12 enclosed that I may change over (still full of tools from my old life) but I'm now thinking more of a cab over with no less than a 14' box.

Their is only one, only one advantage of pulling a trailer oppose to a flat bed or a box truck, they are inexpensive to buy, their is not no other advantage I can possibly think of!

Most guys already have a truck so the first thing they do is go buy a trailer.

Its not about truck or trailer. I need enclosed for a hot water set up that will be used infrequently. I need to be able to keep it at my house out of the weather.
