Home Depot has that 9 gallon Ridged compressor ($823) on sale this week for $700. I'm getting one but wanted to see if anybody has a better deal (or compressor for the $$$).

I purchased a Eaton that's real similar to the Rigid for my rig. I'm having a little buyers remorse with the purchase though. It's a wheel barrel style with 6.5 hp Honda, but I've had a few issues with it already and they have since quit selling that model. If I were to purchase again it would be a Rol-Air or a Rigid. There's a company that sells and SERVICES the Rol-Air real close to my location. I'd go with the compressor that not only is a good price but from someone you will stand behind it locally.

Mike I have used my Rigid for close to 3 years now, the only problem I had with it is when I first bought it, the pully wasn't tight, but everything has been fine since then, oh I finally did break the rope! well I didn't it was the other guys that I told 100 times don't pull the rope while its under pressure.

I have owned my Ridgid for 1 1/2 years. I just had it serviced because it would stall out when it warmed up. $120 later and they replaced the gas cap. They told me that the Honda engines had this problem.

It's running like a champ now that I'm closing down for the winter.

Go to ebay and buy a 10% off lowes coupon for $1 and save $70 at home depot. They will honor Lowes coupons.

Good luck!

Ok guys, the Rigid and other 5.5 hp Honda type compressors are great little  compressors BUT, let me tell you this.

Use the same air diapragm pump, but with a BIGGER Compressor, and you will think you got a new pump!

Seriously.

TRY to find a 16 to 21 cfm Hot Dog Type air compressor if u can, with a single big tank, and a 12 to 16 hp engine,  then watch what happens biggrin

Hi Chris,

I read that, or something similar, from you on another post and definatly took notice. Size & weight are a concern at the moment, so I'm looking to keep things as compact & light as possible. I think if I had a larger trailer it might be something to consider, but bigger isn't necessarily better for the time being.

Understood, but make no mistake, a Bigger Compressor is better, and not just a little either.

Basically, all we do is clean roofs in the Tampa Florida area, and the entire area of our flatbed truck is dedicated to roof cleaning equipment.

Our Big Bel Air 22 CFM Compressor is not much bigger length wise then a Rigid, but it is a whole lot taller, and heavier as well.

It also uses more gas then a Rigid, considerably more so, and is harder to pull start. You MUST disengage the compressor pump, or you are not going to pull start this monster.

But, once it is running, it is just loafing. remember, the CFM of your compressor determines FLOW of your air pump.

Chris if I'm still using an All-Flo and bump up to big compressor what might I expect? will I get much better volume and a higher reach or will I have to go to a bigger pump as well?
