I got a call today for a roof cleaning, the home owner told me that " service magic " was working with him to get me to give him an estimate. Now I don't belong to service magic and I usually just tell them I will call back and I dont. So I explain to the guy why I don't use service magic but get this, he get's another estimate from a guy who tells him his company is affiliated with my company.......... can you believe it? Are guys that desperate out there that they can't stand on thier own? Or that they don't care about anyone even the home owner and will take advantage of anyone. " I MUST BE DOING SOMTHING RIGHT " !
Nah, service magic has called me like three times in six days. I have had people play games with estimates and all so I know that " play " this was just a older guy who wanted it straight.
I hate service magic sometimes. They have tried to get me involved with them a lot. I have the number listed as don't answer. They want money for nothing and bunk leads.

So Pat youre selling franchises? Must be good out on the island. Im sure your probably the most seasoned pro out there. I can see how they'd want to be associated with you.
LOL thanks Ed but no franchises yet. I just could'nt get over the fact that some one would say they were associated when they were not, I mean what ever happened to Integrity?
I've used Service Magic In my Mold Remediation and Air Testing Divisions. Believe me, I was ridiculously sceptical to say the least...outright hostile if truth be told. Finally I told them I would do one month and if it didn't work, I'd cancel. Well, the first month I spent $30 on leads and booked $1500 in biz. Last 12 months it cost me about $350 for leads and it brought in about $20K in contracts...many of the mold testing which has good margin.c The key is to call on the lead IMMEDIATELY, or accept the customer connection call. Then again, we don't have a lot of competition since those are specialized services. Thought I'd try it for the roof washing...
Hmmmm, ya SM has called me forever. They are like Amway-always a rep around somewhere. Heck SM has a rep right here, it looks like? Mold buster - trying to be a Myth Buster and make us think there is big money in playing with SM!

I shill for NOBODY. Just telling you my own personal experiences with two of my company divisions...which are NOT roof washing. $20K isn't exactly a ton of money...but considering the piddly investment, it has been a good ROI. Keep in mind, the two divisions I advertise with them (Mold/Air Testing and Mold Remediation) are fairly specialized and there isn't exactly a lot of competition in my area. And, as I stated, I was not exactly the most enthusiastic or easy to convince...took me a year to tell them I would try it for one month. I told them...one month...it pays for itself or I am out. Well, It has paid off FOR ME. My best suggestion would be to do what I did...do your own homework and try it if it looks like it is viable for you. Don't dismiss something out of hand without researching it. Remember...SOMEBODY is getting those leads and if there aren't many competitors in your area, might as well be you.
Personally, I plan to research it for tye new roof washing division and if there are not any any high discount competitors advertising with them in my area for roof washing, I'll give it a shot.

My apology if I am wrong.
However, this looks like a short version of a sales pitch to me??? =

Even an old mold buster should take note of this post!
20 grand is play money to him, but a hundred bucks to be a Premium member here is over his head!
Now, why didn't I think of that?
As I pointed out in the other thread I am posting in...it is not a matter of being able to afford it, but a personal rule...every division I start MUST be able to stand in it's own two feet. The initial Cap-x (in this case, the rig, initial chems, safety rigging, ladders, etc.) MUST be paid off before any additional funds are spent. The first few jobs paid for the rig and chems, the next one paid the safety gear...now I am simply waiting for funds from several initial jobs to be transferred in from the merchant account to pay the balance before buying ad flyers, trailers, signs or premium memberships. It is a rule which has served me well over the years and saved me when what looked to be a good idea didn't turn out to be profitable.

Nah, not a sales pitch, just good business sense. Do your own research and judge if it is right for your company. Like with any advertising...it has to have good ROI. Some guys it will work for...some it won't. Do your OWN homework, but never dismiss something out of hand from a position of ignorance. Had I done my homework earlier when I was first contacted, I would have realized what I realize now...the services I was advertising were unique, there was little to no competition...and there were leads available. Given that, it is no surprise we've booked business from the leads. Also, ours is a very high closing ratio business so it would make sense it would work. If there is a ton of other guys advertising for roof washing in your area on SM and they are all low margin, then I would pass. The only way you will know is to do your own research. Simple as that.
"MUST be paid off before any additional funds are spent". What a load of B.S. yes kevin becareful the one hundred dollars will obviously put you over " the additional fund " Limit! What a load of crap, it's obvious your a talker and thats about it, so save us your business "genius" nonsense. Anyone on here who answers any of your questions must not have their head screwed on to tightly, but some will answer you and thats a shame. Send in your $100.00 you cheap S.O.B. and stop taking these guys hard earned experiance for free and running off with it to soley benefit yourself!

Sheesh...somebody OBVIOUSLY got up on the WRONG side of the bed this morning. You might want to check the other thread I posted in...you will seen that I wrote that I sent in the payment to become a Premium Member this morning. I did so after...as I said I would...the funds came in and the original cap-x was covered. I am Truly sorry that following what I consider to be sound business principles and discipline offends you.
