Authorities in northeastern Indiana say a 27-year-old maintenance worker was killed when he fell 100 feet from the roof of a building and his safety harness failed.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department says the accident happened about 9 a.m. Tuesday in Butler.
Detective Adam Friedel tells The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne that David W. Gingery of Garrett was cleaning a roof at Steel Dynamics in Butler when the structure collapsed.
Friedel says a safety cable snapped under Gingery's weight and he fell to his death. He worked for the Power Clean company.
Very sad, may he and his family find peace............
I hope the few cut throats who lurk here might stop and think before cutting prices on roof cleaning. It is dangerous work, and you can be killed or paralyzed for life if you fall.
