I cleaned a metal awning and I had to scrub that thing because the run off was terrible. Of course there were no gutters and I didn't alter my mix any, so I was taking the safest route possible.

I have 1 Thursday to do.I'll provide pics & info after completed but I plan on just using my standard mix.Dialing it way back to a fine mist & watering like crazy. I might even rinse it????
Just read post a little more, don't even attempt to walk it. Maybe get ladder up to peak and straddle it, or spray from drip edge on ladder. Determine what kind of stain in on house. If oil based, SOAK THE DRIP EDGE/facia. SH will remove/strip oil based stains.
Metal roof do not need anywhere close to the strength of regular mix!

Also, let homeowner know it will look even better after rain rinse.

Ray, you mentioned that SH will remove/strip oil based stains. Will it bleach water (latex) based stains?
I did a metal roof a while back and it was a a steep one, I used the sh mix and it turned out okay, I just treated the whole roof from my ladder, used a soft and I mean real soft brush on a long extend handle to get some of the foliage off of the roof, then sprayed the whole thing down with water.
Just got my butt kicked by a metal roof yesterday. Lesson learned....not a good project for soft wash. Next time will go with the old pressure washer. It was like trying to remove cheese from an old frying pan. What I thought would have been 4 hours took us all day!!
I use a hook ladder if the roof is unwalkable, like the ones from the fire station to climb on the roof when needed, yep its a special ladder that hooks over the peak of the roof. I wrapped the hooks so they wouldn't damage the peak. I only use this if I have to. I did two metal roofs last wk and they turned out nice. I used a weak sh mix. I treated the roof and used a twenty foot extended pole with a soft brush. scrubbed the roof and hosed of with a garden hose. here are the pics. I don't like to do metal roofs at all but I charge a high price and I let the owners no if its to bad I may not be able to make it perfect but much better.
