With all the fussin', fighting, selling and slander (ok..... technically its libel since it was written, ) going on here lately, I guess nobody has had time to work! Let me rectify that situation.
I thought I'd share today's roof with you. Very interesting GM patterns in the roof.
Ladder never left the truck, shot the whole roof from the ground. Used a 20% Sh solution, and surfactant. Roof required about 60 gallons of solution.
Roof and softwash of building took 4 hours.
Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend, Incredible weather here in Tallahassee today.
No brushing? I've been looking at a metal roof to quote on here locally but I think mine would need some brushing. Looks great Ray! How old is this roof? The building look pretty new...
This community center and its roof are 8 years old. I'v never had to "brush" a metal roof, but I have had to put a little pressure to them to remove the dead algae bodies. Make sure you're walking on only wet ares and not soapy areas when you rinse.
Metal cleans up up very well with some heavy rain rinses, once you get the junk killed. It may take 2 or three heavy rains, but it will come clean. I prefer to let the rain do it rather than a walking rinse on the roof. Thats not to say I don't rinse my metal roofs, I always rinse them, but sometime the junk needs some time/pressure to detach. Just make sure you stage it to the customer this way, to not expect perfection the moment you leave the property.
WORD OF WARNING TO NEW CLEANERS CONSIDERING WASHING A METAL ROOF....... I don't think there is any surface more slippery than a soapy metal roof.

I have never done a metal roof but that looks great. Does the sh have any long term effect on the metal of the roof. I left my down stream strainer (metal) in my chemical bucket and it destroyed it.
Yup, it can strip the finish if left on. I've also seen it eat up the fasteners on shed style metal roofs. Always rinse the metal roofs. You may not get instant removal of the GM bodies up there, but they will come of after 2-3 rains.
Here's the good news, metal roofs can be sprayed at 20-30%. Also a great selling point of cleaning metal is the build up of algae makes it much less slick and leaves & debris will stick to it, thus causing a buildup of debris much faster on a dirty roof.

Thanks for the pictures - we haven't seen many dirty metal roofs in Maryland yet. I wondered if GM even grew on metal roofs, but I should have known better. Any spot that allows moisture to remain and GM will grow. What's the food source for it though?

Photosynthesis converts carbon dioxide into organic compounds, especially sugars, using the energy from sunlight

Great job! I have an upcoming metal roof myself. I normally don't go after those types of roof, but this one is different. It is a 26 gauge metal, coated with silica sand. There must be something organic in the mix because it is infested with algae. It looks like tile until you get up on it. Nice looking roof, just needs a good clean. Any of you done a roof like this?
AC and I cleaned a metal roof on a Pizza Hut came out great! They look good with a wet wax!
I used use Zip wax...LOL brings back memories. I actually shiela Shined won once. In phoenix people stole the aluminum so they stoped building them. LOL
Great Job guys
