Kuriyama rates the K1154 hose as E for excellent with sodium hypochlorite so I wouldn't necessarily blame distributors. I'd call Kuriyama and complain to them and ask why if they have it rated as such are multiple people experiencing that it doesn't hold up as claimed.

PVC has excellent SH Resistance, but the fibers in it are questionable, just as they are in the PolyBraid. That stuff bubbled on us once too often, once it bubbled and popped on a big job and ruined the grass! But, back then we ran higher pressure pumps then we do now.

AG Hose has NO fibers in it to make it more flexible, it is pure PVC. Once again, If I were still cleaning roofs, only AG Hose would be on my trucks. But my employees prefer the Kuriyama 1154.

We always get a year or more out of it. So, if you figure 250.00 cost to do 750 roofs in a year, that's a bargain to me.

Professionals send emails or PM's.

Try to remember the Golden Rule...

Kuri Tec:

Whew! I can assure you that these allegations are brand new to us. We have sold many, many feet of the hose in various id's for use with Sodium Hypochlorite, TSP, Hydroflouric Acid, Oxalic Acid, degreasers, diluted IPA and many industry wide recipes for cleaning. Before bringing in any new product, we carefully research it to INSURE that it will endure the abuse and exceed the requirements of its intended use. We treat each of our customers as if down time cost them a minimum of $15K an hour like one of our customers.

We carry products that must withstand improper use, lack of care and extreme working conditions. The Kuri Tec hose is no exception.

This is the very first thread I have ever seen in which I have received complaints about the Kuri Tec other than a few runs of hose that had issues which were taken care of immediately and much to our customers suprise, we usually include gifts for the inconvenience. It is surprising to see these problems. We have customers that add more rigs to their business and ask for more Kuri Tec. Although all of us wish that hose would last forever, IT DOES NOT.

As distributor's, we never know what happens to our products once they leave our hands.  When we encounter issues, 95% percent of the time, the product can be autopsied to figure out what exactly happened.

A piece of data 'appeared' to have been copied and pasted into this thread. As a distributor of Kuri Tec Hose, I found the pertinent data and copied it below. Please see the ACTUAL CHEMICAL COMPATIBILTY RATING.

Key: E=Excellent G=Good L=Limited U=Unsatisfactory C=Cautionary – =No Data

Sodium Hydroxide 10% E E E E E E E E E – G L

Sodium Hydroxide 35% E G E E E E E E E – L U

Sodium Hydroxide 50% G L – – – – – – – – – –

Sodium Hypochlorite E E E E E E E E E – U U  (THIS IS THE LOVE JUICE!!  SH is rated as EXCELLENT for use with this hose that we have sold to roof cleaners in our Roof Cleaners Corner.)

In the spirit of professionalism, customer service and search engine visiblity, we ask that you please discontinue your vindictive efforts to attack PWP by posting  instead of emailing or PMing.

We love our RCIA family!  Please...keep it clean and keep it friendly and try not to scare away the newbies.

Garden hoses are a bad idea for 2 reasons.
1. More connections means more leaks. And they will leak.
2. More connections means more corrosion. read on...

The issue isn't the hose it's the connections.
Leaving even the slightest bit of chlorine in the system will corrode the entire inside of the connection, restrict flow and build up a dark black "crud" that will slowly destroy everything downstrream.

The solution is to either:
A. Rinse from a 5 gallon bucket with 2 cups of oxygen bleach or Sodium thiosulfate and plenty of water.
B. Cut off the connection and use plastic barb fittings with hose clamps assisted by zip ties.

Don't believe me?
Disconnect your hose from the reel and take a look inside.
I've bet you've seen cleaner sewer mains.
