looking to add softwash

I currently have a 4.7gpm 3500psi 12v on a 5x10 single axle with a 225 tank. I'm looking to incorporate a soft wash system into my existing set up in a couple months. My friend has an all flo that he'll sell me, so I can start there or go a different route. I'll be calling Bob or Lori, but wanted to get your feedback first.

Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike, I assume when you say adding softwashing  you mean houses. There are a few threads started on here that talk about the different options. I personally like downstreaming.

Thanks Jeff, I should have clarified, though I admit I'm a bit confused so my apologies if I'm not making sense. I want to start softwashing roofs, and from reading through the forum most apply soap using a Delevan, All Flo, etc.  I'm not sure if I need a different pump for roofs (less psi, more gpm) and if so, what I'll need in addition to my current set up.  Thanks for your help Jeff, I come across your posts often and you've already been a big help.

Yea,..I wasn't sure,...when I seen the reference to the pressure washer I was sorta thinkin' house washing.
No,..for roof cleaning you don't want to use the washer. And I like the simplicity of the air system.

Just to add Mike,..it's nice to have that 225 gallon tank of water,...especially on rural jobs. That way you're always assured a good water supply. And using your washer to spray gives you assurance of pressure and flow for watering. I carry 300 gallons to every job.

I agree with Jeff.
I have tried softwashing everything, at 1 time or another.
From what I have seen through the years, softwashing roofs is the cats meow, but trying to clean a house, driveway, pool cage, deck etc, with just softwashing, don't make it.
It wont get rid of mud wasp nests or even all regular wasp nests, or other dirt on house walls etc.
You need a pressure washer to get some stuff off.
So, if you are going to run a pressure washer at all, you might as well just use the downstream chemical injector on your machine and geter' done?
Plus, as I apply chlorine/soap with my pressure washer, I can quickly wet plants down before-during and after, by a quick tip switch.
On a driveway, to get it completely clean with just chemicals, it would most likely kill the grass, wherever it runs off. That's the time for a surface cleaner.
I think -personally- softwashing is best kept up on the roof.
It is gentle on roofs, but can be rough on some other surfaces-especially if it's a bit of a strong mix. It can create premature chalking of paint and other siding and spot up bare wood decks etc.
That's my basic experience with it.

Mike,

I just read your post and I'm worried about your 5 x 10 single axle trailer. It sounds like your going to add a compressor and possibly another tank? Check your trailer GVW...most likely 3000 lbs. You should be very careful not to exceed that weight because bad things can happen.

Good luck to you and glad to have you on board.

thanks Bruce, that IS my dilemma ... i think I'd be over weight if I incorporated into my existing set up ... my options i guess are to get a larger trailer (i have a 1/2 truck) or a separate rig ... i use a 10x30 storage unit and wonder where i'd be able to store a wider trailer

Mike, can you possibly use the bed of your truck for the extra equipment until you get rolling?

That's definitely something I'm considering, Mike mentioned some of the cons, but like you said, just until I get rolling ... I left a message for Bob from PT to see what he has to say.
