Hi All,
     My name is Art Green and I just started Roof Stain Removers in Wilmington, NC.  I bought used equipment 9 days ago, got liability ins., started on my website, and found this forum.  I have read everything I could find on sales and marketing and quite a bit of other stuff.  My wife told  me to sit on a different couch cushion because I' ve been reading so much I dented my usual one.  I have never seen a forum before and I hope I didn't step on any toes by not introducing myself before.  I'm not even sure that this is where I should be posting.  Anyway, thanks in advance for all the great info.

Welcome Art;
You have started out right by introducing yourself and not asking questions like most new people. This is much appreciated.

Your plan of action should be as follow;
Read all the posts until your eyes bleedbiggrin
Re-read all the posts againbiggrinbiggrin
Keep notes on any questions you may have
Use the search function to see if your question has been asked before and answered. I bet you it has!
Then proceed to ask questions and everyone will be glad to help.

Become a "paid member" and enjoy the additional benefits. See the 2 different posts on the forum on how to join.

Welcome to RCIA and wishing you much success in your new business
Gary

Here are some pics.  The ratchet strap is just hanging around drying, it is not part of my set-up.

Art,
Very nice Trailer set up. I was having a hard time seeing the type of pump you have?

My pictures are posted over in the "paid" section. (If you didn't at least grin at that, then you are taking this waaaay too seriously. Besides, that shows that I have been doing a lot of reading.) And yes, I will become a paid member as soon as more cash is rolling in my door than out of it. My pump is a Hypro 6500xl. It is belt driven by an 8.5hp Briggs & Stratton gas engine.
Where is the proper place to go to post questions about using the search feature? For example I need to figure out how much Love to mix up for my first house, but I haven't been able to search that out effectively. I don't want to start a new topic as I am sure it's in there somewhere, I'm just not computer savy enough to find it but I know if I get pointed in the right direction I will find it.
Thanks for making me feel welcome. I don't currently have much to add to this forum, but as I learn, I hope to be able to help out the folks who come after me.

That is correct. They belong to Chris, and he choose to move they out of the public area.

Thanks for replying David and Gary. From your replies I gather I did not ask my question properly. I don't need to know the recipe, when I purchased my equipment it came with the recipe. What I need to know is how to figure out how much to mix up. I am having trouble finding this on the site and when I put more than one word in the search box it doesn't do very well. If someone could point me in the right direction on the search feature, I would really appreciate it.

Hi Art.  There are a number of factors needed to come up with something close to the right amount.  First and foremost would be to know if your 'recipe' is sodium hypochlorite (SH) based or if it's *gasp* that off the shelf stuff that frankly, doesn't work.

Other factors include the size of the roof, the pitch of the roof, the color of the roof, and the severity of the stains.    Please provide some additional information and we'll see if we can help get you dialed in.

After doing this for a while, you'll get very accurate with estimating the amount of mix required with only a quick look at a roof.

Thanks Ted.  Incidentally, I grew up in Kings Park.  Yes I am using SH.  I picked up a 55gal. drum on Friday and it was dated 11-3-10 on the lid.  I 'm trying to find a mathematical formula with the search function because it's not something I've found by reading.  My 1st house was going to be a 1200sf house with moderate staining on brown shingles and a roof pich of 4 or 5/12.  Unfortunately, it went under contract today and they don't want it done anymore, but the Realtor said she'll find me another.  I appreciate your willingness to help me.

Art,
Your technique will have a lot to do with how much love a roof will take. Practice makes perfect, so you will more than likely need more to start and as you get better the amount will be less and less. hope this helps... I'd start with about 50 gal. Watch your run off, the less run off the better your control.

Hey Art,sorry I didn't grin at your comment on the " paid section " because I feel that so many people come here take away alot of great information with out giving anything back. That being said, I like your trailer I have one as well but only 6x12. I could use a little more room at times and seeing your trailer photos sure makes me wonder about upgrading.Welcome aboard and I for one am looking forward to you becoming a paid member,good luck.
