  Not to be offensive but if you're too big or afraid to go on a roof; is this a business you really think you have a future in.  You're also always going to run into problems with employees not showing up.  Then who's going up on the roof.

Roof cleaning as taught/shared by RCIA is a good business because of the good people involved. The advice you get here is sincere and intended to help you develop your business as well as perserve good business principles and practices of the RCIA membership.

Trying to to find ways to get around paying taxes in the way you have suggested can only lead to bigger problems down the road.

that was great but... let me ask you some thing how come you are using the RCIA logo on your site with out being certified? on your site the logo says you are certified when you are not if Chris finds out about this he can get your butt baned  for eve ... did you know that?

the other 1/8 will go to who ever "sells" the job. 


So if we do a house for $400.SHOOT FOR HIGHER NUMBERS!! I know it is probably off the top of your head but reset your thinking to more profit, not just pocket change

If my buddy sold the house.Give him a Bonus or finders fee of 10% net PROFIT.

He will end up with $100..

I will end up with $100..

$100 will go towards chemicals and other

$100 will go into the business.GOOD IDEA , reinvest in your business and save for a rainy day


If we are both "partners"...   we both be business owners and have to file our own taxes at the end of the year correct?  I will not have to actually pay him and myself a payroll check with taxes already deducted?
Leasing company if available, or consult a couple different tax preparers as they will all have a different idea for your biz.
Please feel free to shoot this full of holes.. that is why I am asking.  biggrin


I know some out there will ask why I dont just do the work myself and pay this guy a minimal amount to be the ground guy...   but the reason is..   Im about 6'2 340lbs..YOU WILL LOSE THE EXCESS LBS. from all the walking, BUT THAT is a GOOD THING!! Healthier and make money doing it!

and I have no plans on climbing any ladders anytime soon. never say never!!



Also, in terms of paying solely on commision.

How is that taxed, or contracted?

If I have a couple of people who want to sell for me, and I offer them an 1/8 of the bid price for a sell..   how does that need to work?LEARN and SELL your self, NOONE will sell like you, if you have your heart in it at least in the beginning,have a salesman now will only eat your profit in the beginning, remember you want to save into the business fund.

I'd buy a heavier duty ladder, learn and perform the work yourself and hire a good worker (for now). You don't have to actually climb ON most roofs, and the ones you do have to climb on, you can get your helper to do for you.

I only say this since I agree with the previous post, how can you train someone to clean a roof if you haven't really mastered the skill yourself?

Thanks again guys for the posts.

I just did some research and found the 1AA super duty ladders which are rated for up to 375Lbs.

Im not scared of climbing, just didnt wanna get up on a 300# rated ladder just yet.



Also, it was stated several times not to try to get around taxes.. that was completely NOT the idea behind this.

Have read the headaches of having "employees"... so figured it would be easier if he wasnt an employee, but a partial partner.



I do appreciate the info and input, I really do.
