I have had two roof cleaning companies in the most competitive market in the country. Still had a 60% 1 to 1 closing ratio see definition of 1 to 1 with an average job over $700.00 and kept over 4 trucks busy just doing residential. We always spanked the pants off the competition!

Two factors you need to take into consideration.

1. As the Dawg said its back to school time, summer is a killer.
2. Worst economy since the great depression.
3. You havent dialed in your sales program yet and that takes experience.
4. You havent studied your competition and created market share.

There is way more than enough work for 10,000 roof cleaners in this country. Orlando has 200,000 homes that are apraised over $250,000.00 in value. If tomorrow 10 companies got SERIOUS about cleaning roofs and they all had 4 trucks each it would take 2,500 days to clean all of those roofs. Not to mention the drives, exteriors, pool decks. Thats almost 9 years of cleaning for 10 four truck companies!

Then how many of the roofs would need retreats and how many new homes would be built.

You need to come to the NCE event in Charleston, SC  it will change your life! Just for roof cleaners there are 6 classes I know of, demos, equipment, socials, etc etc etc.

With all due respect AC I have to agree with Dan on this one. Last year it took me forever to find out what to put into my mix. It was a TRADE SECRET much like Bushes baked beans. But when I found this site people where proud to just give it away for free. I just don't want roof cleaning to be like landscaping/lawn care. When Joe Nobody puts a mower in the back of his truck calls himself a business and charges $20 bucks a lawn.

Its always easy to say to zip this place up and change all the rules AFTER we've so readily learned trade secrets here. I understood Bill Boozes point of view when he explained how we want this industry to grow through education. I've been here for about a year and watched countless members get a handful of posts then vanish. just this last week there seems to be an explosion of new members. I'm not against that but how many will stay once they learned what they need to get out and start lowballin? Cant we at least meter the accessibility to secrets to make sure we have true blue folks who are in it for the long haul? Will a flood of roof cleaners cause me to run around more giving estimates? It will be hard to compete against an army of roof cleaners mixing sauce in a barrel from a back of a station wagon.

Not everyone knows what I put in my mix.   well a few do but they paid for that info.

I like Joe Nobody, he is a very nice guybiggrin  Really your right! we need to make this a PAID forum but there will always be trunk slammers and bleach jockys out there no matter what we do.

Ed I know what part we can leave out, the chlorine, we can have everyone thinking we use bleach from the grocery store? Their is nothing hard at all about cleaning a roof, although I bet Chris and AC has some tricks up their sleeves their not sharring though.

I think the only great thing to learn would be marketing from AC, I sure would like to learn how to survive in a economy  like this one, the only thing on people's mind is saving money so they hire the lowballer everytime.

Both questions will be addressed in Charleston end of Sept.

I need to sign up for SC cause Tampa was great. My only problem is here in the North east I'm stacking nuts away for winter. My season is done somewhere around that point.

Tampa was awesome!!! Now that school has started phone ringing a lil more again. You should add gutter cleaning to your arsenel of services! It will help you keep making money this fall. Do a search gutter cleaning 101.

I'm really hoping I can make Charleston. I want to drive my truck there, 'cause I want to see some old friends are still there, I used to live there!!!

AC is really making Charleston more interesting and a kinda have to go cant miss thing....

I'm also thinking about the 3 months or so where ya live off what you saved.

I hope I can make it to SC!

Mike Tampa really was great. I have all ready added gutter cleaning to my list of services. I have a friend who owns a gutter business and is going to give me all his cleaning cause he hates it. I need to look into gutter guards a little more. I have about 5 months of down time over the winter. I will do some snow plowing and working on some other things

Thats all the more reasons you need to come, plenty of teaching how to make money during the winter.

Not service but maybe preperation prior to season...

Michael I believe what Ron is saying the marketing techniques you will learn at the convention you will be able to apply them during the winter which will set you up for next years season?
