Kuri tec Hose

Hey guys 2 months ago I ordered some kuri tec hose from Bob at Pressure Tek. It was twice as much as the other distributors but let me tell you it was well worth it. I called and asked to talk to Bob he was not available so they took a message. 2 hours later he called back and after talking for about twenty minutes he placed my order. The hose he sells is a much thicker, better quality kuri tec. I have seen local guys that bought some kuri tek from other distributors that looked like a collapsable gardenhose. He refuses to sell something he will not stand behind! 2 days later it shows up at my door. This hose has three layers a plastic like inside, praided nylon like layer, then the outside has another plastic like shell. The best part is it is still lite and easy to pull around. I hope this last as long as the last hose Bob sold me the goodyear lasted me 2 1/2 years. Some of you might say that is not to long. It is a when you drag it along cement tile roofs. I had to lay her to rest after I drove 70 miles an hour down the highway with part of the hose hanging off the trailer scrapping the ground!

I guess my point is if you are looking for another distributor give Bob a try.

Sounds like that maybe the deal. I just e-mailed for price on another 5850. I heard he upgrades the relay switch. I need a back up. Tried to order one from PWP but got no reply after leaving messages. Have to ask about the hose.

Thanks for the info.

Kuri Tec is a brand much like Chanel or General Motors. They make many different types of hoses. They make ag hose (many different types of ag hose and colors), specialty hose, pvc air and water hose, fitttings, etc.

http://kuritec.com/

Lesson here:  Research your product, understand the terms such as bend radius, temperature and how it relates to the maximum pressure rating, chemical compatility ratings, weight per foot and a whole lot more!

For example, we had a customer that requested 5/8" Kuri Tec yellow ag hose for his roof cleaning pump.   We explained that the hose is very stiff due to it's rather large bend radius.  It is a bear to handle.....before you break it in.  He still wanted it and was unhappy when he received it.  In general, yellow ag will far outlast the PVC multipurpose hose but it is more expensive and difficult to deal with in any id greater than 1/2".  (I am assuming that we are talking about the ag hose all of us offer you) It make a R2 pressure washer hose look like child's play when full of chem.

I have the yellow Kuri Tec ag hose from PressureTek too, and it is very heavy duty.  And speaking of PressureTek, I was on the phone with Andy ordering a few back up items and he mentioned that they'd be offering some new pumps starting next week.  He suggested keeping a close eye on their website.  I was going to order a backup Fatboy but have decided to wait and see what's new to be offered first. I'm very curious!

Thanks for the heads up on the new pumps. As to hose, I got the blue Kuri tec from Lori and am pleased with it for handling. Her advice on the hose was right on, 5/8's, when I talked to Bob he offered 1/2". As I posted earlier I used the 5850. I'll be watching for the new pumps.

Thanks.

Funny....When I ordered my roof cleaning setup, the yellow ag hose is what you suggested.  And yes it's a HUGE BEAR to handle.

Rich...yes!  You are the one!  You are right.   I still have another hunk of that 5/8" ag hose that was on backorder and you opted to refuse!  LOL!!!  That hose will outlast the Kuri Tec.

Ag hose is awesome if it is in 1/2" or smaller.   It is more poular with our Pest Control customers.  However, most guys on this board use 5/8" or 3/4" for their All-Flo's or Delavan's.  Smaller hose will restrict flow and push a Delavan into early retirement!

I know a guy that was able to get 18 months out of his Fatboy!!!!!!!

BTW, Delavan explained that they were making some improvements to the back end of the pump to make them a bit more resistant to moisture getting in and corrosing the wiring.  When they are mounted properly and under something with air circulating around they should last even longer with the pending improvements.

A story, my old Ford Taurus used to have a great ride, on the OEM Tires.
They wore out, I replaced them with some Michelin Touring Tires. They destroyed the nice ride so much I begged the tire store to take them back! They did, and had to special order the General Tires that were OEM on my car. The nice ride returned, as soon as the General Tires were put on my Car. A week later, I picked  up a Consumer Reports Magazine, and sure enough, the General Tires were top rated, as far as ride comfort goes. They have a soft rubber compound that sucks for wear, but is great for ride. Touring Tires are rated for 75,000 miles vs 35, 000 for the Generals.
They have a hard rubber that wears better, at the expense of a soft ride.
Same with Roof Cleaning Hose. We always used 5/8 Ag Hose that is a bitch to use, until a few months of doing several roofs a day. Then, it softens up, and lasts almost forever. The Kurri Tech is easier to handle when new, but don't last as long. PERSONALLY, I like 5/8 Ag Hose, stiffness and all, because it lasts! My guys prefer the softer Kurri tech 5/8.  The stiff AG Hose is a bitch to remove a worn out hose barb from, compared to the softer hose, better bring a knife ? My guys hate it, because of this.

Chris. You should write a book (lol). Not many people can tell a story and educate others like yourself. To smoothly transition from Michelin Touring Tires to Kurri Tec hoses is an art....

Yes, Lori!  She is talking about me.

I installed my FATBOY right out of the box, without changing or upgrading the relay switch or pressure switch and it ran strong for 18 months because I used large everything.  It not only lasts longer, it performs better (more flow and distance).

Large 3/4" hose, 3/4" ball valve, #60, #70 nozzles, 10 gauge wire, 770CCA batteries, & 1" intakes.

This is not a debate, a hose war, or discussing one's feelings or opinions.

It's simple physics and a fact.

You know what, even the "lowly" Lawn Guys know this. But somehow, it escaped a few people. This is from a Lawn Care Forum.

Garden hose is a staple item. The gallons of water a hose will carry is determined by three factors-size, length and available water pressure. Most manufacturers have charts giving this information. The inside diameter of the hose determines its efficiency.

Low-priced, promotional hoses, usually 1/2" diameter, deliver 9 gal. per minute (gpm), and higher quality hoses with 5/8" diameter deliver 17 gpm. A 3/4" hose delivers 23 gpm, almost three times what a 1/2" hose delivers. The larger the inside diameter of the hose, the less pressure loss over any distance. If the pressure is low (under 40 psi), the hose is running uphill, or is extra long, then the largest size hose available should be used to minimize pressure loss in the hose line.

I prefer the 200psi Kuritec 3/4" hose Lori sells.  It much lighter weight, easier to work with and more flexible.

It comes in a 300ft roll.  Have them cut it in (3) 100 foot sections with brass crimped on garden fittings so you can use 200 feet for your roof cleaning chemical hose and 100 feet of water hose for your ground man.

Like Chris says, the Ag hose will last longer but it is considerably stiffer and harder to work with.

She does have a new 300psi Kuritec hose which is in between the stiffness and durability of the 200psi hose and the 600psi ag hose.
