Most of you know this by now, but for those with little real world experience let me remind you....

This chit burns like hell if you get enough of it on you and especially if it stays there for awhile.

Here's what happened:

I'm spraying the gutters, soffit, facia, etc, okay?
Got a little extension off the ball valve, no big deal.

I wear long sleeves because I sweat like a cheap hooker on payday at a navy base.
I don't/can't wear sunscreen and I'd rather not look like a cigar. Anyway...

My sleeves were wet from rinsing and stuff from earlier and then I started spraying some mixdown on the stuff when I noticed a little tingle down my arm. No big deal. I rinsed my sleeve and moved on.

I did this 3 times before I had enough sense to pull up my sleeve and notice the first degree burns.... And possibly worse.

All from a very liitle tiny bit of mix coming out of a doped up fitting.
Not enough to spray, just enough to run down the nipple, pass the valve and soak into my shirt.

So be careful out there guys, protect yourselves from the sun and the SH.

That is one of many, many reasons that I don't use pipe dope, just teflon tape.

I have always had back luck with fittings leaking with pipe dope, even tried several different brands from several different stores, never again, too much time and effort wasted on that junk.

Teflon tape or thread lock from now on.

i got burned the other day too. i had a small drip where my connection had twisted sightly loose. I was on the roof and had was holding my wand and hose against my side as i sprayed. After a few minutes of spraying, i felt the burn. I looked down, and some love had gotten onto my shirt. It seeped through my dickies overshirt and my undershirt until it reached my skin. when i looked at it a few minutes later i could quite easily see and certainly feel the burn. my stomach looks like your arm now. ouch!
