Anyone have a list of tools you need/have in the field?

Teflon
Ducttape
pliers
Cresent
small socket set
extra fittings

I'm sure there are more.

Ideas?

Thanks

I guess that depends partially on what's on your rig.

Here's a partial list for me:

2 crescents
1 large channel lock
1 pliers
1 set of screwdrivers (various sizes and shapes including hex, star, torx, etc)
1 sockets set (large, SAE and Metric)
1 hammer
teflon tape
duct tape
hose clamps
Fittings to fix hoses
various viton seals and O rings

Other things not necessarily tools:
Push broom
Squeegee
scrub brush (large and small)
Garden Hose sprayer/wand/ballvalve and nozzle or any means to rinse with a garden hose
Rubber boots
Nitrile gloves
safety googles
first aid kit (including eye wash)
respirator (w/ extra filters)
couple of large carbiners
hat for shade
sunscreen
cell phone
cooler (full w lots of water)
proposals, business cards, flyers, etc

maybe more than you were asking for, but... hey you can always ignore me, lol

That's perfect, I know if something goes down on your rig you can be up and running in no time.

I want the same thing...

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna print this out to have as a checklist.

I started doing this in January and I've already had to do several hose repairs one pump change and a few leak fixes in the field.

Oh and changing a flat on the trailer.
so add:
Jack for trailer and lug wrench, lol

Great ideas, guys!

We recommend AGAINST teflon tape. Think about what you see when you remove fittings that you have used to connect with teflon tape. Usually, most of the tape is GONE.

Where did it go? If is is before the pump (between the tank and pump or the suction side), it may end up causing some downtime in the middle of a job. Depending on where it is lodged, it may provide symptoms which will result in requiring the removal of the glob of teflon tape during a job. If the tape comes off on the discharge side of the pump, you may have to stop in the middle of the job while on a roof to clean out your clogged nozzle.

PWP recommends 'pipe dope' or liquid teflon. It can be found at any hardware store in the plumbing area.

DO NOT USE TEFLON TAPE ON YOUR PRESSURE WASHER EQUIPMENT for similar reasons. We strongly recommend using MEDIUM THREADLOCK.

I also carry a utility knife. You will need to cut your hose at some point to repair a leak.

I carry extra 5 gallon buckets in case I need to mix TSP if I empty my tank. I also carry a manual tank syphon pump to pump the SH on my trailer into the mixing tank when i'm on the road. Remember the MSDS sheets
I also carry bungee cords to secure my ladder and secure items to the trailer

I carry a few faucet handles. I do a fair amount of work for absentee owners and they have a habit of removing the handles when they leave.

I am using both, should I remove all my fittings and just use the 'pipe dope'?

Good call. I use pipe dope. The yellow stuff. Sometimes if you go to the right supply house you can get "chemical resistant pipe dope" which, one would imagine is the best.

Thats funny I do work for a few absent minded H/O's and they have broken ones. lol.

Just kidding, but I do carry a few and customers always praise us when we take the 5 minutes and 2 dollars it takes to replace them. I always get more work from those people.
