I can get a 15000 watt Generac Generator from someone who is moving and had it for power in case of a hurricain.  I don't need a generator but it has a 30 hp motor with electric start and less than 10 hrs on it.  I can get it really cheap and was wondering if it can be converted to a belt drive pressure washer.  Has anyone ever done this?

It can certainly be done. What kind of pressure and volume are you looking to achieve? That is an awfully big engine.

You'll need to pick a pump that you want to use. Call any pressure washer supply place. They have guides that tell you what horse power engine you need to run a particular type of pump. Rex at Pressure Washer Products can certainly help you with that.

You will then have to know what RPM the pump is supposed to run at and you will have to set up engine and pump pullies that will turn the pump at the appropriate RPM.

If you have mechanical ability, it is not that difficult to do.

How cheap is cheap? By the time you purchase all of the accessories, it may be more cost effective to purchase a complete set up that comes with a warranty and support.

Food for thought.
