I have not heard many good things about it.

It just doesn't make any sense to run that pump for 2500 or whatever it is when you can get an All flo or yamada and gas compressor for less than half the cost.

If you ordered it from PWP they give you free tips and wand options. everyone has their own preference. You just have to start with something then use it and find out what you like and dislike about it.

get your self 0050,0060.0070. 1550, 1560.... this is pretty much all I use with the fatboy, as far as wands , we use 3/4 ball valve attached to 3/4 hose, again the fatboy likes everything big, been using for over a year with no problems,

I appreciate this thread. I'm new too.

My town is VERY environmentally conscious, both the laws and the people. Frankly I am too. I want to absolutely minimize overspray, runoff, gutter bagging etc. I also don't want to blast myself (or anyone else) in the face with 10 GPM force stream of bleach while I'm learning.

I'd already decided to start out with the 5850 instead of the Fatboy. Reading this I'm seriously considering the next one down.

With the 5850 I'd planned to go with 1" ag hose before the pump, 1" pvc pipes and ball valves to control which tank I feed the pump from, and then 150' of 5/8" Kuri Tek hose that I roll out all the way for each job.

I want to have a ball valve, reducer and appropriate tip to maximize distance when necessary. And since most of the roofs around town are going to be single story and walkable, I'm thinking I'd like a wand with a 45 degree elbow at the end, and a wide spray tip so I can have a ton of control. I'm wondering whether that would put too much strain on the pump though?

I'm planning to use Gription (aka Apple Butter) in my mix to further reduce runoff and to keep the chemical working on all that moss I'll be dealing with for as long as possible. I've also learned here that adding Isopropyl Alcohol to your mix (at the last minute so it doesn't break down the SH potency too much) will help attack the moss more aggressively.

I rambled past the "pump" topic, but I would really appreciate any feedback on the above. I have learned so much from you guys on this forum.

You don't have to use 1 inch feed hose with such a small pump, but it will come in handy when you go to a bigger pump. A wide spray tip does not give as much control as a narrow pattern. I suggest a ball valve and a 25 defree tip vs a wand.
Here is why. With a wand and a wide tip, it is harder to control run off, especially near the roof edges. And God help you if you lift the wand away from the roof with a 45 degree nozzle.

Thanks for the advise. I'll follow it. I just added a 25 degree nozzle to the order I just placed with Lori. Went with the 5850. Stayed with 1" ag hose so I have it when/if I go with a more burly pump.

Lori's dad was kind enough to give me some good advise about a whole valved, multi tank pvc contraption I had cooked up. In short, scrapped it. Going with a single feed that I can move to whichever tank I want. Added a cam-lock coupler after the pump so I can switch between a short filler hose and my long spray hose (will be transferring SH from 55 Gallon drum.)

They take the time to make good recommendations, and they have lots of experience behind those recommendations. Thanks PWP. That is exactly why I'm happy to give them my business.

I read a couple post back someone being environmentally friendly and controling runoff. I get all that but then the comment was made about gutter bagging. Do you put something under each downspoout to catch runoff? just trying to learn the best way?

Hit that search button on this forum. There are some threads that talk about the various ways people do it.

Around here most downspouts go into the ground so you actually have to detach most gutters to bag them. I'd like to avoid doing that six or so times each job. I'm going to experiment, see if I can just keep the runoff so low that it's a non-issue.

I've thought about possibly blocking the downspouts from above and then pumping/vacuuming up whatever hasn't evaporated. Could experiment.
