Hey got my first job- 5,000 sq ft of very black barrel tile. Only problem is I do not have a pump or set up. I am trying to go as inexpensive as possible to see how this takes off. I was thinking of getting a Fatboy. I have an open trailer with hardly no space due to a hot water unit, cold water, unit, etc. I was thinking of building a hand truck setup similar to the one I saw for sale at Pressure Tek. How many gal of chlorine you think this will take? Currently, I have 4 empty 15gal barrels. Any advice?
Thanks,
Mark

5k square feet and a hand truck system. Are you trying to kill yourself? Best thing to do is find a roof cleaner in your area and sub it to them for training. How can you sell something without being ready to do the work?

Pat is right...if your not prepared then you should not even attempt the roof. What happens if you mess something up? YOUR business and/or image could take a hit. Get your ducks in a row first.

And remember...thing are inexpensive for a reason...

I tried to figure out a workable hand truck system but found it to be infeasible. With the right parts though, it could be done. It would just take quite a lot of work to build it.

Hopefully the air pump system will be get tested tomorrow.

Hire somebody! Just because you buy a Fatboy does not mean you are ready to work. You will need to spend alot more to properly set it up.
Have you considered the cost of insurance for Roof Cleaning? It is needed.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I probably made myself look ignorant by my post. I should have mentioned I have been pressure washing since 1999. I recently started considering roof cleaning and have been researching my ass off. I have been consulting with Don Phelps and feel confident I can properly perform the service. I know which chems, pumps, equipment, etc. I need, but I am limited on funds. As for insurance, I am insured for window cleaning and pressure washing up to and including 4 stories, and roof cleaning is covered under the policy. I pay almost $900/yr for the insurance. I am a professional and would not attempt the job if I did not feel confident. I'm just short on cash.
