We had to clean a roof for quick sale on a house and we brushed snow off and cleaned in 38 degrees. Never again. 4 coats of 75% strength pool shock (12.5%).

I went through my pics. In my computer. November 27th I did a roof, last year. Dont remember the temps and all, so I cant say much. I'm sure it was pretty cold. Used pump ups. Was all we had for washing roofs in MD. then.

Oh I hope you rinsed the heck out of it!

If not that concentrated chlorine will rain down with the sleet, water, etc. and kill everything in the dripline for a week.

We had to wash the whole thing... luckily it was a cape cod style and not that high with an 8/12

We have cleaned roofs here in Sunny Florida when the temperature has dropped well below freezing with heavy frost on the ground in January with NO SH booster and were fine. The job was over 80 houses so it was a big project. The ambient temperature seems to have less effect as opposed to the surface you are spraying, as long as the sun was up and starting to shine on the roofs we were ok. These roofs are all tile and had significant frost on them. I would be very very careful with plant care as they seem to be more susceptible to damage in the cold and the real damage not being apparent until the spring growing season. This sentiment about the plant care is directly from some very large companies and horticulture people with experience.

Just wondering, does moss and lichen react the same in colder temps? I can't imagine it would make a difference, but I have a job this weekend with some pretty bad moss and lichen on one section of the roof...

i did one yesterday and it took two coats but the moss and lichen started dying in about 20 minutes after we had sprayed. used the normal mix ratios.

We have done a lot of them in the winter as long as it is around 40, you do have to be careful of the shady side. I do not think we have shoveled snow off a roof but i know we have for houses and concrete.
