The apple cider sauce is where it's at for me. I think it cleans better for me, and as long as I put it on thick, usually don't have to do any touch ups. Deal mostly with asphalt singles, not to many other roof styles in Ohio.

I used to use Borax, but it does not dissolve well, so I quit using it.
I can not say whether or not using Borax has helped keep my roofs cleaner longer.
I can say using alcohol instead of borax has made a bigger difference in the speed and cleaning power it gives my roof cleaning mix.
APPLE CIDER SAUCE - Bleach, TSP, alcohol, and dawn works best for me!

Borates for brick and roofing tile.(Evansite[R] from U.S. Borax Inc)(Brief Article)
Ceramic Industry
This company has developed Evansite[R], a microfine sodium pentaborate in a sugar suspension that is specifically designed to meet the heavy clay industry's economic and technical needs. The sugar prevents the borate from migrating to the surface during drying, and it transforms sodium pentaborate's high solubility from a disadvantage to an advantage by allowing the borate to dissolve in the relatively low moisture content of the clay body. This ensures optimum distribution in the body and even vitrification. Once the clay body is dried, the sugar is burned off during firing, and the borate can ...
I would like to thank you all for the information on RCIA. Have been doing a lot of reading and learning over the past week. Had an opportunity to speak with a few members Larry and Lori and both have been very helpful in pointing me in the right direction to find information. I am trying to add roof cleaning to my current business. Where on here can I find start up information. Thanks

I think the roof cleaning mix of the future may be the Amonyx in place of TSP with rubbing alcohol. TSP is a powerful cleaner, but Amonyx is easy to use, in comparasion. Borax does clean well, and keep a roof clean, but is is kind of a PITA as far as water solubility goes. Back in the days of Apple Sauce, we were getting 3 times as much to clean the same roofs. The extra borax and tsp in our tanks was notthat big of a deal.' Every 4 to 5 tank refills we just used chlorine/water, and used hot water to re activate the left over tsp/borax. But amonyx LO is so much easier, just dump in, stir, and go. We carry rubbing alcohol for the stubborn roofs, and some liquid sodium hydroxide for filthy tile roofs, only. I still think TSP cleans a little better then Amonyx, but Amonyx is so easy to use, we have pretty much swithched over to it. I still like a strong TSP solution on flat cement tile roofs.
That is some BS ive been doing this for about 2 years usesing many differnet mixes and her this guy is a certified roof cleaner with a 118 posts and im not!!!! Practice what you preach.
