Great post Larry of All Pressure in Florida-

This is a quote from the link Larry posted:

Quoted From nola.com

"The cleaning was part of the Superdome's routine maintenance, stadium spokesman Bill Curl said. It's the first cleaning since the Superdome roof was replaced in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina.

Katrina's winds tore a gaping hole in the roof on Aug. 29, 2005, allowing rain to pour in. Brazos Urethane used 120 workers to install the new 9.7-acre roof at a cost of $32.4 million."

Think about that guys, some of us, most of us will NEVER see a contract that big.

A contract for 32.5 MILLION USA dollars! In any world currency or denomination these are BIG numbers.

We all have reasons for starting our business of roof cleaning, pressure cleaning or both.

What are your dreams, plans, ambitions?

Where do you want to be in 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 5 years from now?

Have you thought about it?

Have some of you done more than JUST think about it, what about WRITING your goals, your dreams, your deadlines down on paper or in a business or marketing plan?

The law of averages suggests that 4 out of 5 businesses started will fail in 1-3 years, and only 2 out of 5 will make it past the 3rd year.

What's worse is that of those 2 businesses that do make their 3 year anniversary, only one will make it to the 5 year mark.

1 out of 5 seems pretty slim avaerages for success, maybe those of you that read this will change those averages, at least in the roof cleaning market segment.

The top 2 reasons most businesses FAIL is from LACK OF PROPER PLANNING and LACK OF CASH FLOW to continue operations.

These were my thoughts as I read this story of the multi - million dollar roof cleaning, maintenence and restoration contract.

Think out what I have written guys, this my be the thought that needs to change the mindset of your view of your business.

Some of you, may and most certainly can have the opportunity to get goverment of municipal jobs of gigantic proportions if your mindset is one that says to yourself and others, " I can learn and discover what it takes to run with the big dogs and do a job of this size".

This is the type of jobs I have studied and made mistakes and overcome all sorts of hurdles and obstacles to get. These type of jobs are the future of roof clean usa.

These are the jobs my company will one day get. Why? Because I have a GOAL.

"A GOAL is just a series of Daydreams , WITH Deadlines"- Vince Lombardi

To some my ideals and my goals might sound brazen, almost foolish and to others, certainly unobtainable, but to some others here who are doe'rs and on this forum.

My goals may be similar to what they may one day want to accomplish.

I may not ever do a 32 plus million dollar job, but I believe if your self motivated and you have the skill, and partnerships in place to be "in the right place, at the right time"

Anything is possible.

My thoughts are for the best for ALL of the MEMBERS of the RCIA

My questions to you are:

What are your dreams? Do you have goals? Are they written down?

Do you have a mission statement? Do you own a Day Planner?

Do you actually USE it?

If so, what has changed for you and your business by planning and goal setting?

Hey Guys... first post. Quick intro- My name is Bobby, I am new to the scene. I am transitioning from the Air Force as an avionics technician to the civilian life (again) after my 10 broken up years of service. A friend who owns a PW company in Pasco sparked my desire to want to start the business. I hope I am not taken as an enemy because of my area code (Chris - Larry), because I am pretty easy to get along with! And, BTW- being a native of St.Pete- I would live in Northern Alberta for the weather if I could, but my wife isn't budging from St.Pete (she's not even from here!). Off topic- sorry

Anyways, have you guys driven past the Ford Amplitheatre lately??? I would love to see how that one is done! You've gotta be creatvie to tackle that one. Chris???

I have been by there a bunch of times. My 2 stepsons live in Brandon. The Ford Amplitheatre is still pretty new and I don't think its been cCleaned yet. I would sure be up for trying though.

As far as you being new to the area and new to RCIA all I can say is welcome to both.

The only other thing I can say is PLEASE, PLEASE try to keep your pricing around here up. There have been a ton of new guys in our area that have been Lowballing jobs like there is no tomorrow. I am no where near the cheapest guy in town and it would be GREAT if we could all start keeping our prices up and help to set an industry standard on pricing for both Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing jobs. Feel free to give me a call some night if you feel like chit chatting.

that is absurd how many roof cleaners are popping up every day in Florida LOL, yet all you guys seem to be working.  What about the key's, because I was down there several years ago checking things out and I didn't see not one roof cleaner or power washer?

Wow, I'd like to get that gig. At $.25/sq.ft. that would be a $105,633 job.
