Went with the 5/8.

Pressure Tek had the setup to me in 3 days. I've been busy getting everything put together to give it a trial run and now I have 8 inches of snow on the ground this morning. I guess it will be another couple weeks before a decent warm up.

You know, there is one good thing about being slow,..... it will give others in the neighborhood a chance to be nosey and see what you can do with a bad roof. But, I personally do like a decent pace,...I will mess around a little on my own if I want to. Just wanted to tell those that aren't flying over their jobs that there is a at a bright side to being slow.

On an average roof 1500 to 2500 square feet, we can cover it and be ready to roll out in a tad over an hour to an hour and a half with the fatboy. Thats set up, clean and ready to leave.

Get the FATBOY!

2 5800's 115V on a generator will cost you a lot more money and the performance will only be slightly better.

The FATBOY is almost as strong as two 5800's together and it does not draw as much amperage.  Saving your battery life.  It is much more efficient than 2 5800's together.

Yes, get 3/4" hose, 3/4" PVC ball valve, #50 and #60 nozzles. TRUST ME ON THIS!

I have the fatboy,ready to go. Just waiting for the weather now,I am waiting for the tips Mike Sullivan suggested so I can do a test. I am not worried, Mike Sullivan has bent over backwards on here helping us all out. I got faith in him and Chris.

I don't recommend using the FATBOY to wash houses because of the amount of time it takes. It will burn out too fast from being overworked.

Using a #40 nozzle on the FATBOY will make it push 100psi drawing 25 AMPS which I also do not recommend because you are maxing out the pump and shortening the life of it.

Scroll up and read the Performance chart. 

You only get 2.55GPMS with #40 nozzles drawing 25AMPS.  You can test this by filling up a 5 gallon bucket and time it.  You can also type in the numbers on this website.

Pump flow GPM: 7

Pressure PSI: 122

Nozzle size: 40

You also need .6 Horse power to push this much volume through a #40 nozzle to get 122psi.  The pumps maximum power output converting AMPS to Horsepower is only .4 Horse power.  So using #40 nozzles will cause the pump to be overworked and slow down by 33%, operating at only 66% of peak performance.

AMPS X VOLTS = WATTS
25Amps X 12 Volts = 300 Watts

WATTS X .00134 = HORSEPOWER
300 Watts X .00134 = .4 Horsepower


In other words, you are getting a considerable amount of flow loss using the #40 nozzles, defeating the purpose of buying a larger, high volume pump.  You are not getting your money's worth.

This is like going to the car dealership and asking to buy a FERRARI, pay full price, but you want the engine taken out and replaced with a hamster and a treadmill because you don't want to go that fast.

Using #50 and #60 nozzles is best because it will push more volume and draw less amps, #50 nozzles with 3/4" hose, 3/4" ball valve will make it push 4gpms @ 80psi which is plenty to shoot far enough. #60 nozzles push 5gpms @ 60psi

If you don't want to use a pressure washer for houses then you could get a gas powered air compressor and a Yamada or ARO pump.

I use 5-8gpm pressure washers to wash houses but I never use more than 100psi because I use large nozzles like the #40 and #50's
