You MIGHT think about using a regulator bypassed BACK into the tank Scott ?
That will releive pressure.
OR - you COULD go get you an Air Diapraghm Pump - LOL
Just kidding  biggrin

We were made aware of a KYNAR and TEFLON air diapraghm pump capable of 100 plus PSI at 7 GPM for ONLY 261.00 !!!! BRAND NEW biggrin
This pump will run on an inexpensive 5 CFM Compressor !!

A simple regulator might FIX your problem though ?
But  then ... you have the added complexity of another few fittings/hoses.

Spraying Systems have a Plastic Regulator capable of 150 PSI
Be SURE and order the High PSI one ?
They make a LOWER PSI one that LOOKS the same
Easy to make a mistake.

Yea Chris it had been mentioned to maybe use a bypass. However, if a bypass is used it would constantly run, and burn up the motor VERY quckly, I would think.

Since we realized the issue, we have used the pump for 7-8 months w/ out any problems.

I know I've mentioned running a by-pass with these pumps, doesn't seem as though anyone wants to try it. I'm almost certain they make a by-pass kit for one of the Delavan 12v. I will dig it up if I can. I could be wrong though.  Always nice to have the info even if it doesn't suit at the moment.
This is where having an older one to use as a guinea pig would be nice. Run 100 gallons of mix without stopping and see what happens. Just pump it into another tank,..see how warm or hot the motor gets.

Here is a link to the 5850 pump and it doesn't show the by-pass valve specifically, but it does mention being able to be run in by-pass.

"Pump Type: 5 chamber positive displacement diaphragm pump, self priming, capable of being run dry, demand or bypass mode."

Hey Jeff! Its not that Im against it, I just dont want to burn up a good pum. Like you said, having an older pump would be good to test it out on. We dont replace pumps until they crap out completely, so we dont have any working pumps that could be used.

I would love to see if it worked though!!

Hey Scott, I just added to my post, in case I wasn't fast enough before you read it.

I did find the by-pass info. It doesn't show the by-pass specifically, but it does mention being able to be run in by-pass mode.

Jeff

Chris, You should not kid or have to appologize for knowing what works the best and what does not. Your years of experience proves without a doubt that the AODD (Air Operated Double Diaphragm) in Kynar with Telfon Valves and Diaphragms are far superior to OTHER chemical delivery methods.
It is PROVEN by looking at the Chemical compatibility charts and in the field over time for longevity and ease of use with minimal downtime.

If others choose different methods of delivering roof cleaning chemical to the roof than that is their choice.

However, NOONE should knock this delivery method untiul they ACTUALLY TRY IT and USE it PERSONALLY for a PERIOD of time.

MARK MY WORDS, one day IT WILL BECOME the PREFERRED Method of roof cleaning cleaning agent delivery method.

David, when did Chris apologize for anything?
It is a long running joke between Chris and I because he knows I wont switch. So he says, "you COULD go get you an Air Diapraghm Pump - LOL" and I laugh and say No.

Yes , It is kind of a Joke between Scott and I about the Air Diapraghm Pumps biggrin

Hey - It's ALL good smile

He likes the Delavan Fat Boy - WE like the Kynar/Teflon Air Pumps.

BOTH work - and we feel the bigger hose with an Air Pump is THE way to go biggrin

Scott likes 1/2 inch hose and a Fat Boy pump.

Mike Sullivan likes DUAL Fat Boys !

SOME use Roller Pumps - then toss them when they freeze up ?

AC from Mallard uses Shurflo's !!

My Step Dad was a Race Car Mechanic.

I remember FIST FIGHTS as a Kid in the Pits STARTED by a fellow Racer who "bad mouthed" My Step Dad's Snap On Tools yawn

Like Dave - I STRONGLY feel the BIGGER the Hose the BETTER - and I feel an Air Pump is the very best answer  too biggrin

But I have learned a LITTLE "Tolerance" in my old age for those who use different stuff then I use or suggest biggrin

It is NOT easy being tolerant - but saying THIS helps ME " I am POWERLESS over people, places, and things biggrin

My thing is I have never said that a Air pump is worse than a delevan.

Nor have I ever said that the bigger hose performs worse. I acknowledge it performs better.

Just not so substantially for me to change my entire set up.

I havent "Knocked" the pumps as Dave claims.

Twisting things isnt nice Dave. You shouldnt do it.

AMEN - use WHAT you want biggrin

Heated debate is actually sometimes good - we all learn from it!

But let's not cross the line and allow a thread to degrade into insults ?

My goal is to help others here and be of service to the community of roof cleaners.

I apologize for my part in escalating any of this.

I will mind my manners personally on the board.  Scott, or Jeff or anyone else you have my apology if I have offended out of context.

I don't believe I did carry it to that level but Jeff or Chris or Scott, if you think that I need to tone it down at bit  on tanks or pumps, etc. I will mind my manners a bit more regarding things I am passionate about in regards to roof cleaning and equipment.

I meant no disrespect and was just actually trying to help the newcomer by providing plenty of info in order to have them make the best choice for them.

I still feel that I did that.

We use rollers. hypro 6 series works best for us. we have replaced a few but now just clean out and replace the guts, which as you know is not much. People might not agree but I think that for those starting out the best route is a motor and a roller.  Easy set up to build maintain and it doesn't hurt when it breaks. Just my opinion for you new guys. Get the silver series all day on ebay for around a 100 buks, and repair kits are only in the 30's. Its been such a good setup that there is no reason to replace, Yet.

IMHO Hypro Roller Pumps are better then the Delavan Roller Pumps.
The 6 roller pumps spray like a champ when they are working.
I like reliability and simplicity.
I would rather not have a bypass that you need on a Roller Pump.
Thus we use Air Diapraghm pumps.
I care NOT what pump anyone uses biggrin

Or how FAT your hose is no

A Certified Auto Mechanic might use a Cresscent Wrench and Pliers ?

He is STILL a Certified Mechanic smile
