Welcome to the board (Mike) Peanut.
I'll answer your question but, you owe it to yourself (and the rest of the forum members) to read your butt off before asking a basic question like this.  I thought that I knew what I was talking about after reading about 200 posts but after reading 1000+ posts, I realized that I may have jumped the gun a little when I started asking questions.

Can I suggest that you read a few hundred posts...?  The answer to this question will be in there a dozen times.

It's very rare to rinse a roof.  A realtor may ask you to rinse for quick results but, it's best to let it sit.  Rinse the gutters out though.

Don't get me wrong Mike, ask questions till you turn blue but, so many of the guys on this forum have studied this trade so intensly that they can get a little feisty when presented with a "basic" question like this one.  Use that "search" feature.

We all look forward to more of you posts and again, we are all happy to have you.

Peace my brother!

ISO should be in large enough quantities at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
It's no big deal really.

Can someone set me straight about Apple Cider, Apple Sauce, and Apple Cider Sauce? I know all the ingredients such as SH, H2o, Alcohol, TSP, Borax, Dove and so forth, but which combination belongs with each name? And yes I have been reading, reading, and reading. It seams like everyone has there on concoction and trying to keep it all straight in my head is getting a little confusing. Thanks for all the help. Great Forum...

Ok, here goes.
Apple Sauce - SH, TSP, Borax, Water

Apple Cider - SH, Ajax or Dawn, Rubbing Alcohol, Water

Both clean well, Sauce gives longer lasting results because of the Borax, but is harder to mix because of the TSP and Borax.
Also gotta really pay attention to plants because of the Borax!

Cider is much easier to make, cleans well too.

There are variations of these recipes, and you will start a "fist fight" on RCIA if you asked what mix is best

You CAN "clean" with only SH and Water.
But just as you would not use bleach alone to wash laundry, most of us feel we need other cleaners in the mix.

The newest of these other cleaners is a chlorine stable surfactant called Amonyx LO.

Hello

I'm new to all of this and am trying to start a new business as soon as possible.

I have a few questions, in regards. I have seen the Apple Cider Sauce recipe thats been posted by Pressure Washing Pro (THANK YOU!) and am looking to incorporate the Ammonyx Lo into it but I'm not sure how it fits in? Could someone help me out with the subsitutions needed?

Secondly, I will be having someone work for me to apply the formula and will need workmans compensation insurance no. Does anybod have any recommendations or people they haved used who are reasonable in their rates but reliable? I also need liability insurance as well? Maybe a package deal?

Thank you all for your time!

Rod

quick question, for the apple cider sauce it calls for 1/2 bottle of ultra concentrated dawn, so what size bottle, how many ounces?

how many different size bottles can there possibly be. Do you think it will matter if it is a little more or a little less? quit asking retarded questions.

I'll tolerate a silly question before a nasty and inappropriate response.
The answer to the question about soap is: You may not want to bother with soap - go with the "Billy-Bob" instead.  Look it up in the search feature.  The search field is GOLD!

Is there a reason the Borax in Apple Sauce is left out when using alcohol in Apple Cider Sauce?

This is great news in that my partner and I are looking for a good chemical to use here in NJ.  We're spending way too much time on the roof - approximately 4 hours using Roof-A-Cide.  We're rinsing each individual shingle!  Will Apple Cider really wash away the stain - quickly?

Rinsing a roof is something that we rarely do (we let the rain rinse for us).  The "love" aka roof mix will kill the algae quickly but, you will have to wait for a good rain storm to see the finished product.  However, you will notice a HUGE improvement in the look of the roof after only 15-20 minutes.  Customers will gladly hand over a check even before the roof has time to dry.  We charge $.35 per sq. ft. because working with SH is pretty dangerous.  Here in Montgomery county PA, the roof pitches are fairly steep so, we often have to charge even more.  This is surely NOT a glamorous way to make a living - I think that it's downright nasty but, there is money to be made if you can tolerate the "stuff" that goes along with it.
IMHO, switch to using the Love.  It works WAY better then anything out there and ARMA stands behind this method of cleaning.

I generally keep my mix more simple and it works well.  I just use straight germicidal bleach from HD and simple cherry.  On steeper roofs I sometimes have to add some dish detergent at the end so it clings better.  12% shc is soooo expensive around here.

Simple Cherry is not as good,  compared to Ammonyx LO and/or TSP.
It was a better then nothing  housewash product, and some used for roof cleaning, before they found out other stuff works better.
It was never popular here in florida, most guys down here just used Dawn Ultra, until finding better ways.
Ammonyx LO will smoke dish soap, and from what the house cleaners tell me, will do a great house wash too!
Many of my friends in Florida just use IT, and only for really dirty roofs add 1/4 cup TSP per gallon to that mix, and carry some Rubbing Alcohol when mix really needs a kick in da azz.

Sure, you can add it, but apple cider was developed as an EASY to make mix, compared to apple sauce. Borax and TSP dissolve MUCH better in hot water. The Borax in Apple Sauce takes advantage of the "film effect"of TSP. spray some TSP/water mix on windows, see what we mean, LOL
Now, the Borax "gets trapped" in the TSP film, and provides a longer lasting roof cleaning. Plus, Borax is a potent cleaner, all on it's own. Think not, wash your hands with it sometime, that is why we have Borax hand soap.
Borax is ALSO an anti insect device, Insects HATE it !
I know a guy on ss disability, who makes extra money by offering to "imsect and mildew proof" alll surfaces !
he sprays em with a Borax/water mix roof cleaning
Got to remember Borax has Boron in it, and will kill the fuk out of plants if not watered really really well ?

Honest to god, a Borax Water spray will help prevent spider webs and mud daubers, wasps, etc, etc.
Some boric acid sprinkled around an outside house frame will eliminate bugs, for real!
