You can add more TSP and Dawn to your mix (especially if it's a steep pitch or tile roof) but it will weaken your SH. Play around with it.

Hint: I have one of my guys stir the mix for me on occasion while treating a large roof or steep one just to be sure nothing is separating and also to re-activate the suds.

The TSP will not weaken the mix, but Dawn will, over time.
When using TSP, it is a good idea  to add some hot water to a tank w/o adding any more TSP, to re activate the left over TSP.

It is also a great idea to re stir the tank before every job too, as you posted!

I actually just tried that because I know the TSP takes forever to dissolve anyway, But I did it because I did not want to add too much more strength to my mix since and it was COLD out. Worked great!

It is always pretty warm here in Tampa, Florida.
But several who clean roofs up north, in the cold, simply use hot water AT the job.
IOW, they get hot water either AT the job, or from a hot water pressure washer.

Some even wet the roof down with warm water I am told ?

Don't go crazy with hot water on a roof and melt the shingles, LOL

But water up to 130 degrees should be fine ?

Roof Temps can easily get there anyway in the summer sun.

Wow, what are the chances of that? Two companies called Portland Window Cleaning on one forum  confuse.

Mike, I see that you just joined the forum. Did you happen to see that there is another member here with the same company name as yours? Do you find that customers confuse the two companies? Although as I'm typing this I see that you have added "By TWC"  What does the TWC stand for?

You guys should try to hook up and make one giant PORTLAND WINDOW CLEANING CONGLOMERATE!

roof cleaning I love that little dancing guy!

I did not get mine from Lori initially, but I did order some from her,
It cleans real well, like NP 9, just gotta be careful not to use too much.
It can be a PITA to rinse if too much is used.
Like NP 9, it leaves a visible film on the roof if too much is used.

But used sparingly, it really makes a beautiful roof cleaning job.

The post about the foamer is a commercial product that contains Amonyx LO.
Actually Amonyx LO is really Lauramine Oxide!

Sounds good, thanks for that post Clyde. I'll check it out. Been getting a ton of steep tile lately and I'm thinking this could save me some re-applications if it clings even just a tad bit better?

Oh where, oh where, are you Chris Tucker?? Stayin' busy and feeling better I hope?

I have been fishing, and working on my boat.

The formula Walk commented on is a commercial formula that uses Lauramine Oxide better known as Amonyx LO
No real need for the other stuff in the commercial product for our use.

We just kinda eyeball it, but I use from 1/3 to 1/2 gallons Amonyx LO per 100 gallons roof cleaning mix.

For tile roofs, we go to 1/2 to 1 gallon per 100 gallons roof cleaning mix.

STEEP shingle roofs use 1 gallon Amonyx per 100 gallons mix.
On a 12/12 pitch roof, we used one and a half gallons Amonyx LO to 100 gallons mix, and it stuck like glue!

At that concentration, it left a surfactant film, needed a good rain.
When rinsed by the rain, the roof looked incredible.

TSP is real good for cleaning, but a PITA to mix.
I really like the Amonyx LO surfactant, and I feel it gives pretty much as good results as strong TSP roof cleaning solutions, w/o all the hassle!

I have also found that the addition of some Sodium Hydroxide aids cleaning of filthy Tile roofs.
A couple of gallons of 50 percent Sodium Hydroxide added to 100 gallons mix makes quick work of filthy tile roofs.

We carry Rubbing Alcohol, but only for the really dirty shingle roofs.
Most of the time, we are currently using only using the Amonyx LO in our cleaning mix.

A Chlorine Stable Surfactant  like Amonyx LO has long been the "holy graille" for a roof cleaner.
It is not expensive at all, and WAY WAY better then using Dawn, or any dishsoap.

It is my opinion that Amonyx LO will change roof cleaning, the same way the Delevan Fat Boy pump did.

17 years ago, I could only DREAM of a roof cleaning pump like the fat boy, and a Chlorine Stable Roof Cleaning Surfactant like Amonyx LO.

Yeah Billy, YOU found it !!
I found another chlorine stable surfactant, but it was FAR to expensive for us roof cleaners to use on a daily bassis.
Hats off to you for finding the lower priced, but equally effective Amonyx LO !
