SH eats steel filter

I installed a filter in my system earlier this year. Then recently I noticed the pressure of the Devalan FB was lower than normal. I inspected the filter to see if it was clogged. You can say it was more than clogged. Referring to the photo the SH severely deteriorated it impeding flow. When I got the filter I knew better that it must be stainless steel but was not thinking. Right now I'm just running without a filter. Lesson learned...

Hey Dave,..best thing to do is filter in the tank. Make a simple PVC filter. Take a piece of PVC and and a hacksaw and cut several slots in the PVC,..get a bottle type brush and clean the inside of the pipe after the cutting,..add an end cap to the PVC,...attach it to the suction hose.

*A cutting wheel can be used but it creates melted PVC "shreds" inside the pipe,..If you do it this way, just use extra care in removing them.

Go to your local Home Depot and pick up a well point in the irrigation isle. Last one I bought cost me $9.00 and this is exactly what Jeff is speaking about.

Dave - we've used both of the above (both great ideas) but for the last 6 months have not used any filters. So far, no issues.
