I just saw this on craigslist.rochester. Has anyone used this stablizer? It seems pricey at $200.00, but may be worth it if it really works or helps.

I use "ladder basemate" they are brilliant on uneven ground and not very expensive.

I would say no. If you didn't use a stand off on the ladder it would slide along the gutter with any shift of your body.

I know Osha likes standoffs, but I don't. It makes it harder to angle your ladder, so that I feel sturdy.
It's back to the KISS formula for me. Just doing what I have always done safely.
