New Tampa Roof Cleaning Truck

I bought this flatbed truck yesterday guys. I was able to get him down to 2300.00 !

It will make a great roof cleaning truck, but will be a little underpowered. It has the big 300 cu inch Ford Inline 6 cyl with the C 6 Automatic. That motor/trans combo is very reliable, and has a lot of torque.

I told you guys I lost the tranny in my Mitsusishi. The truck is done guys, the bed is all rusted out, but the motor still runs great.

Like all Apple Roof Cleaning Trucks, this one will be treated to dual 300 gallon tanks, a very large air compressor, and an air pump.

This truck runs like a top, and has nearly new rubber on it too! At one time, it was a road paving truck in Tampa, and has that stuff all over the flatbed. LOL, that will save me from coating the bed!

It also has dual toolboxes, one each, one either side of the bed.

No A/C of course, or power anything, except brakes and steering. It is a WORK TRUCK.  It drove really nice, stopped good, did not overheat, and the tranny is fine, although it has been modified to not shift out of 2nd gear until you take your foot out of it.

This is a common trick to get some more passing power.

The Ford Inline 6 is about as bullett proof aS IT GETS.

It will roam the streets of Tampa, once it has all my roof cleaning equipment on it.

This is how we roll guys. You all know what the roof cleaning chemical will do to this truck eventually.

I buy decent old flatbed trucks under 5 grand, and drive them till they will not drive anymore.

Well, even though the big 300 cu inch Ford Inline 6  has a lot of torque, with 2 - 300 gallon tanks full of the roof cleaning chemicals, that is hauling a LOT of weight around the streets of Tampa!

I sure do not want ANY power robbing options like AC! Sure, it is very hot and humid here in the Tampa Florida area, but none of my roof cleaning trucks have EVER had a working AC unit. Even my 2006 F 350 6.0 turbo diesel had it's AC unit intentionally defeated.

We are roof cleaners, and accustomed to the Tampa Florida heat and humidity. I have found that with a working AC in a truck, that my employees tend to get lazy, and want to stay in the cool air conditioned truck!

Or, they have been known to rush a roof cleaning job, to get back into the cool truck.

But the real issue is the power an AC unit robs from an engine!

As I said before, it does not take a rocket scientest to do the math, and add up the total of all the gallons of roof cleaning chemicals we carry around. At 9 pounds a gallon times 600 (dual 300 gallon tanks) that is 5400 pounds!

This is a LOT of weight, and does not include 2 - 200 pound Men, and a 300 pound air compressor!

That puts us well over 6000 pounds, when our tanks are full of roof cleaning chemical!

Besides, you do not want to be speeding in Tampa Florida, especially hauling 6000 pounds around!  Even though Ford F 350 Trucks have great brakes, that is still a lot of weight to stop, if you have to stop all of a sudden, because some lost tourist here in Tampa slams on the brakes.

This is the season here in Tampa Florida right now. Plus, many are out on the roads right now Christmas shopping.

The traffic is murder in Central Florida, this time of year .

Wow Brother ! That box truck looks like it has Gutter Dawgs written all over it!

If you can afford it Mike, I would nail it, and put a wrap on it. It will PAY for itself, if you do like I suggested, and make a deal with a business in a high traffic location to park it at, when not in use.

I know it is your "colors" Mike, but maybe white will be better to show off the wrap ?

Do you plan to work out of it, or is it JUST for advertising ?

This truck caught my eye too looking!!!

I guess for advertising first, maybe I could cut a deal like you suggested and park it some where for now.

But like you said white might be a cleaner look.

Yes Mike, white shows off a wrap best. Like I said earlier in another thread, we are probably the most well known roof cleaning company in the Tampa Florida area. We do not require any additional advertising, like a box truck parked in a high traffic location.

In fact, after 5 years in the roof cleaning business here in Tampa, word of mouth took over. Even though we have always had some form of advertising, most of our customers came from word of mouth. Happy Customers will always send their friends to you to have their roofs cleaned.

But the Box Truck we once had generated a lot of work. I think if you can find a great deal on a large white box truck, you might want to consider using it, for advertising purposes only ?

I would get a large white box truck Mike, and have a wrap put on it, showing your best before the roof cleaning and after picture.

In other areas of the country, people are not aware of the dramatic results that non pressure roof cleaning can have on their homes, like they are here in the Tampa area.

Here in Tampa Florida, roof cleaning is almost as common as getting the grass cut!

In fact Mike, many areas of Tampa have what are called deed restrictions, enforced by homeowner associations and property managers.

When a family moves into a house in one of these subdivisions, they sign an agreement called a covenant stating they will abide by the rules for the upkeep of their property.

They have no option, they MUST clean their roof, or else!

So, here in Tampa, roof cleaning is not an option, it is a way of life!

The non pressure cleaning of a roof is sort of new up north. So, you do not have the awareness, and built in demand for for your services that we do here in Tampa.

A Box Truck, with a wrap, strategically parked at a high traffic location, is an excellent way to establish your roof cleaning service Mike.

It will pay for itself many many times over. Just find a DEAL. The large box trucks are found cheap, no one wants them, too hard on Gas!

There are tons of them for sale here in Tampa, at near giveaway prices!

There is a law here in Maryland. That alot of people take advantage of. You cant have a billboard or sign up but a lettered vehicle or box truck parked out front is ok.

It is the same law here in Tampa Florida Mike. As long as the sign moves, I guess it is legal,

In fact, it is not uncommon at all Mike to watch people with a sign they are "clothed" in walking back and forth on a sidewalk at a stop light!

Here in Tampa, as long as they are moving, the sign cops seem to  leave them alone.
