I think thou doth talk out of thy arse! you must by doing the equivelent of a " drive by shooting " sounds a good idea just driving down the street gushing chemical all over peoples rooves! 25 minutes yeah I can do that, but we protect the landscaping etc etc etc rinse off rinse down, then
maybe just maybe have a 10 minute chat with the owner ( this does get us referrals )

Ray, we all know your established and professional, I don't doubt that you have done 4 roofs. I have done 3 starting at 9 and ending at 3, so I could fit another one also to make 4. It all comes down to circumstances. No plants, gutters go out to a sewer drain, vinyl siding, rancher. You can do 6-8 of these in a day. I have to get better at soft-washing houses, it takes me way to long.

The most we have done in one day was 6 roofs and 3 of them had house washes also. Started at 730 and got done at 530. If we are just doing roofs we can do right around 7 per day and still keep the quality in check but they have to be in a 5 mile radius. It really dosent come down to speed tho for me it more about quality which is why I'm generally 2-300 more than Dan. Plus I may include a house wash along with other work. Dan can run around and do 4-5 half roofs and I'll stick to 3 jobs a day at an average of 750 per stop. His business plan is different than almost everyone else that is on this forum.

Exactly Mike. If that's what works for him than so be it. Personally I think he's selling himself short, but that's his loss.

He does have some decent marketing ideas, and his truck is aweome.

For my business though, it's all about 3 things

1) the upsell

2) repeat business

3) the referral

... not sure about his referrals but he has nothing to upsell and his business can only repeat itself every 5 years. I don't know how much revenue he generates, but I do know a few guys on this forum that would triple his business in the first year.

Me too. You and I can turn a $450.00 roof, into a $700 + job by working another hour or so.

We pressure clean too, so we walk the customer around his house and point out the algae on the soffits etc and walls, then the pool area and decks and docks and driveways.

I don't really care to run to 4 roofs a day. I'm happy to stay in one or 2 places and make my money.

This whole thing about doing 5 or 6 roofs a day is ridiculous. None of us in Florida can do 5 or 6 roofs a day, with all the plants around these houses!

Unless the houses were basically side by side, in a development, I doubt anyone can do 5 or 6 a day. It's just talk.

Few of us do more than 3 in a day and personally, even 3 are more than I care to attempt to do quality ork on, in 8 hours!

I did one roof, house, cage, deck and driveway today and made $900.00 and went home at 2pm. That's what I like!

The Most roofs I have ever cleaned, in one day, was 11

It is here in Providence Lakes, a subdivision of mostly guttered homes, and 2000 sq ft shingle roofs.

We had 2 big tarps, my ground guy literally dragged from house to house!

I had 3 roofs to do on the street, and my girl went door to door, as I sprayed, and my ground guy protected the plants!

I had a "deal" back then, ANY house in the community for 300.00 CASH ! (Mallard was 375.00)

AC and Mallard were my competitors, back then. His poor guys sat back and watched me, in Awe!

His tiny trucks, with their puny Shurflo 12 volt pumps, could not match the tremendous "firepower" of my Box Truck Battleship.

That truck was equipped with a 550 gallon tank, and a John Blue PP 193 (19.8 gpm at 250 psi)

AC sent in his big commercial rigs, once he found out how much work was to be had. But by then, it was too late. I had taken 3/4 of the subdivision down. Poor AC, his guys were out banging doors, forced to deal with cheap ass dot heads and orientals.

Oh, I LOVE BLACK CUSTOMERS ! Why ? Because they pay CASH Money biggrin

I left Providence Lakes that day with over 3000.00 CASH MONEY

I've been cleaning roofs for 5 yrs. We've managed to up our speed considerably, but I have never done more than 3 in a day. It seems that I can never get a roof with gutters or a roof without a million plants. We always cover plants and rinse thouroughly. In most cases we at least clean the concrete and a lot of times, we clean the house too.

In a couple cases where we only did the roofs, the home owners seemed a little unnerved that we finished so quickly. It seemed that they went out of their way to look for things that we may have missed.

I am happy with 3 per day per crew and can truthfully say that we have had 0 complaints this season and do a lot of business from referrals. I think that everyones business model is a little different and that we are happy where we are at at this time.

I agree Al. More than three roofs per crew a day and I sense that someone is cutting corners. A one crew team has to break down, irrigate all the vegetation, bag gutturs, move ladders (if not walking the roof), break down and roll up and finish the job with a final rinse of all the plants, sod and flood around the downspouts.

I am a one crew company and we never completed more than two roofs in a day. We commonly have a driveway presure cleaning or house soft wash service on 80% of of our roof projects and if we did three, I think the level of service would end up being less then par. We take our time and I make sure the results meets my expectations, which in 99.9% of the time is higher then the customers.

My comment to Dan is that I believe in quality not quantity and I get many leads from past customers. In a big city, a splash and dash service might be a great business plan but in smaller areas like I am in, word of mouth can make or break you.

I have done 3 in 1 day but thats pushing it becasue we almost never wash just a roof. I had less than 5 this year only roofs

I have done 8 - 2000 sq ft shingle roofs in one day, a few times. They all in the same subdivision, and we drug our tarps and hoses from roof to roof.
