We do asphalt/fiberglass, slate, concrete, shake and standing seam roofs, but this is the first time we tackled this on a standing seam roof. These calcium deposits were all along the roof over the garage as well. This home belongs to a Lt. General, and the General's wife was very happy with the results. So were we as this was a first for us.
This roof was chemically cleaned - no pressure used.
Naaaaah. It was far more complicated than that.... (just teasin')
We alternated between CLR (off the shelf) and plain old vinegar (really off the shelf) to see whcih worked the best! The both seemed to work equally well. It took many applications though, and some patience (I don't have much of the latter
Had it been effloressence (sp?) we would have had our hands full, but I was fairly sure it was just calcium from the stone work. It was.
We'll probably never see this unsual scenario again....
