Steve or Bob - Thanks for the kind words as well.  Adam/Maverick has provided wise counsel on the topic.    The stain that we use is so spendy, run off is not an option; it's far too expensive to waste.  Fortunately it won't flash, just in case an additional coat is needed here or there.

That great. Keep it up and thanks for sharing it.
i live in pacific northwest, lots of cedar shake roofs here but going out of style. they do take maintenance (see above). if it's too shady and too wet moss will grow dispite the zinc.
