I tpyically don't do, estimates over the computer, this one is a bit out of my reach but can easily be worth the money. They are asking for a roof and house wash. I am trying to get the dimensions but I don't know exactly what I am doing.
WARNING! There is no street address, once you click on the link, you have to go down the road, there is a white house, with a grey roof. Across the street is a red barn, with a black roof, you can't miss it.
You can download "Google Earth". Just type in the address and it will give you an aerial view. There is then a "ruler" on the toolbar you can use to choose your points of measure.

I see. Ya, I've used Google Earth, Bing Birds Eye & Ariel and Google Maps for years. I just was curious how you got the measurement thing.
I just use either the County Appraisers site or Zillow.com to get the total square footage for bidding. Inevitably, if you ask the customer, you will get only the "Living area" not including the garage or a lanai roof.
Zillow gives a lot of info-if you hit "details" the "Facts"

Thanks uglies, I was holding a ruler up to the computer screen all morning, didn't know you can draw lines with google earth.
Chuck on Bing maps search the house then click aerial zoom, you can get a real good look from all 4 sides.
Dan
I just tried and I see no way from "ariel" to see anything but the roof- no veiws, like you were standing on their street. Only Google Maps shows that, from what I can find???

Same with me.
I have used google for everything. The measurements are almost perfect. Bing is very clear but it does not get closer than a couple hundred feet for me.
Ya I don't think Bing offers the street view, you have to go to google for that. But if you use both, you can get a pretty good idea. I just wanted to get some more info because I rarely use it.
Bing birds eye view is very clear. The closest you can get reads 50 ft, but realistically I think it's at least 200. The 'aerial' view is slightly closer but not as clear. It shows a street view very similar to google. (not supportrd on my iPad)
So whats the final quote brother? Looks like a $950 job. $800 rock bottom.
Ed,
It's way more than that. Based on Uglies numbers Dan should be able to provide a quote of $1400 with the roof and house wash. If he doesn't want it I'll drive over and handle it. Only kidding Dan.

Hank looks like we got some jersey lowballers, just kidding Ed. Roof price $1500, House Wash is $375. .29c sqft up here, I don't really have an exact way to price out house washes. (only done about 4) .

Dan,
Use the formula I gave you for house washing. It works for me 80% of the time.
