Another newbie that wants all of the answers given to him on a silver patter. DO SOME REACHING SON!
In 16 years of cleaning roofs I have never had one customer ask such a question. Most people clean their roofs for looks except in Florida where the HOA get on to you. I have never had a customer that was concerned about health issues.
On your web page you had better list every possible keyword for every poosible way the customer will search for you or customers will not find you that way.
My first post and already have 2 guys with bad attitudes bitch'n at me. Is this just a test to see how I react to provocation or are these guys really this rude?
As far as "wanting the answers handed to me on a silver platter" comment, I thought the whole point of this site was to ask questions and post answers to help each other out.
I have read a lot of the posts over the last year or so and many blow up into pissing matches. It all starts with immature comments like the last few on this thread.
All I can say is if you don't have anything constructive to say, then just don't say it and stop instigating fights!! If you really feel a need to crawl up someone's you-know-what then have the cahonas to PM or call them! Don't spread your anger here on the forum!!
Well, enough of that. Thank the rest of you for your input!
I would like to open this thread to those in the business who can answer these questions DEFINITIVELY! I suggest that if you have an answer, that you back it up with some authoritative documentation.
Scott, like I explained in my PM to you, most new guys are going to get their balzz busted when they come out with guns blazing. I realize your building a new site and your more than welcome to any pics on my site until you get your own.
I agree with Ed that the 99% of the consumers do not care what it is on the roof that is making it look dirty, they just want it clean.
Good luck,
Ray

I have a great idea!! Since we're all a big bunch of crybabies, let's make a rule......If I start a tread, you don't post in it and if you start the thread, I won't post in it.......kinda like a have to seperate my 5 year old from my 7 year old..
Deal?
They are just here to help you do it right right way. KISS( keep it simple stupid). Not calling you stupid just a term!

I promise you this: If you stick around, in a few years you will look back and understand. So suck it up son and dont leave before the miracle happens. Marcus just gave you golden advice. Worry about keywords in your website. Do like Gutterdog, when people ask what your spraying on the roof just say "soap". When they asking what kind of soap, just say "roof soap". Youre being told for the umteenth time to Keep it Simple.
I just don't understand why someone in one sentence would resent giving advice to someone in one sentence and then turn around and GIVE advice in the next....I'm sure he's a good at what he does but there are a lot of other folks on this site that I would rather get advice from.....people that have manners and understand how to be respectful....you know what I mean?
Your original post must have gotten lost in translation. It almost sounded like you were another newbie who came in gunz-a-blazing. Someone who paid their hundred bucks and wanted answers, like NOW, and definitive ones. It almost sounded like folks responded but you didnt hear what you wanted. It sounded like you had an idea of how you were going to do this, and when veterans gave you advice (yes rough-around-the-edges advice), you got insulted. It almost sounded like Marcus, and the rest of us, might of experienced a few dozen people come in with this type of mind set, without an ounce of humiliation, get frustrated, then never be heard from again. So forgive all of us. We didnt know you were different.

Yes, keep it simple, one day at a time, and don't leave before the miracle happens
I think the problem here is that a few of you guys misinterperated the tone in my original post. My point was that I was hoping to NOT receive a whole lot of half assed rhetoric like many of you guys seemed to post anyway. I was calling out the INFORMED members of the group, not just the troublemakers. It looks like my intentions backfired!
It is very simple guys.....if you are not qualified to answer the questions (for instance if you refer to GM as being a "bacteria fungus" on your website, then don't bother responding to the thread. If you want to start trouble, like you, Gary and Ray have chosen to do, PM me and I'll fight with you all day long!!! But others do not need to be bothered with reading your BS!!
Either answer the question or shut up!!
And you're right ED, I did pay my $100 and was asking questions.......which usually means you want answers!
BTW, just because someone is a veteran, does not mean they have all of the answers. I think that is been made abundantly clear so far.
Send me $100 (that I paid) for priviledge of posting here and I will THINK ABOUT not posting anymore!
Better yet, when you see a thread that I started..........MOVE ON BROTHA!!!!

It was pretty quiet around here after Joe was banned and I always try to turn negatives into positives so here it goes. When a-holes like Joe and other bone heads come storming in here like "The Tazmanian Devil" and try to turn things upside-down, it actually brings us closer together as a community.

Scott, you are the cry baby. I called you with all friendly intentions. You wanted to engage in whining. I refused. I started talking shop. You cut me off and said you were too distrought over the whole situation to talk. Fair enough. If anyone missed any of this you can watch on tonites episode of Dr Phil.
Friendly intentions!!!!???? Are you kidding me? Five minutes before you called, you went on a rant of insults towards me. Then you call and try to talk all nice. It doesn't work that way. If we had any of this back and forth in person instead of on a bulletin thread, I'm sure one or both of us would be sitting in a cell right now.
What you need to understand is that words are words regardless of if they are written or spoken. How dare you insult me the way you have and then call me to make nice.
Since you always have to have the last word.........your turn!
I tried to explain to Ed on the phone that I have been researching and using the RCIA forum for about 2 years now and that I purposely haven't posted (before now) because I know how they feel about asking questions that have already been answered. I have read hundreds of posts on this sight and reserved my question for only the ones that I couldn't find answers to in the 2 years I have been looking. I can see how that part about posting DEFINITIVE answers could come across but that was not the tone that I intended. I just wanted to know if anyone could answer those questions because I knew that 99% of people could not. In hind sight, I guess I should have used 'softer' language.
All I have to say is why are you trying to turn this into a science project instead of a business. You really need to take a step back and think about who you just put down,3 guys who have cleaned more roofs combined then you will have in atleast your full lasting in this business which will not be very long if you take the approach in which your heading. Use the terms that are here and go out and sell some roof cleanings. you say you have been here for two years but have you cleaned any roofs yet? If not then why not because this is not rocket science. People (customers) just want a clean roof not a 1/2 hr science lesson. Just git r done.
Thanks for the input. This turned into a very efficient way of finding out who to stay away from in this business.
Apparently, you did not read carefully enough before putting your 2 cents in. I said the only reason that I asked those questions was so I did not post incorrect information on my website, NOT so that I could have a conversation with my customers about it. It seems that most of the responses were from friendly, intelligent guys who were able to respond with great advice and information and then there were the few guys with bad attitudes who responded with anger because they didn't understand the questions!
Scott thanks but I don't leave things up to luck. All the info you need for your website is on this forum and also all over the world wide web. If you choose to not listen to the guys that make over 100 thousand dollars in sales then so be it. All I have to say to you is cookie luck with that website. Your off to a great start with the guy power washing a roof as your main picture.
....like I told someone else who went to my website; that picture was put there by the web developer as a placeholder until I can take my own to replace it. I do not intend on having anyone go to my website yet because it isn't finished yet. THAT'S WHY I ASKED THE QUESTIONS THAT I DID!!!
I don't like publishing incorrect information either in print or on my website.
Doesn't that make any sense? Why does everyone have such a hard time with this?
