We sell gutters, we did a little over 12k this month, 25% margin, plus gutter protection. We added awing cleaning. Looking at solar panel cleaning. Panel installation is scheduled to double in the the next 18 months thanks to our green White House agenda.
When the fish are hitting artificial, we are going live bait, that's not working, we are going top water.
Joe I'm not going to argue with you.... seems your looking for a problem on here. I'd rather do half the work for the same money then double the work. But you have what three successful businesses? I am just glad your in P.A.

We are busy this summer. But, I don't think roof cleaning alone is going to make anyone rich. We bought a mosquito Franchise this past winter, and snowplow in the winter. I think for any small business that wants to make good money, you need have more than one stream of income. The mosquito business is going very well for our first year. I thought this would be a great add on to roof and exterior cleaning. When we go to homes, we offer mosquito control, and most homeowners are thrilled about it. For any of you Florida guys, this is something you should check into. I hear from folks down there that the skeeters are real bad.
I'm from Lorain Ohio, right on the lake. I actually have less mosquito problems here than up there. The summers were very thick with the pests. They don't get us as bad here, but the season is longer.

As long as the employee has at least 3 months he can collect.
Not sure but I think if he has 2 months and 3 weeks and works for you for a week and gets laid off he can collect unemployment from you. If fired, I think it's the same, but he has a 7 week waiting period.

you do need a license in most states to spray insecticides. But, it is do-able, and it is a good money stream. The thing with the franchise, is they help with the licensing, and everything. If I did not feel I needed the help with the license and start-up I would have gone it alone. But after going with the franchise, even with the cost I think we are 3-4 years ahead of doing it ourselves. We went with Mosquito Squad. Check them out.I know some states are full. Michigan is full. If interested, let them know you heard about them from Me.

Hey Joe...heres what you wrote...."there's maybe 3 other companies doing it the right way.. and charging through the roof.. so its easy to win business.".
nd again " my pricing is what i need to charge to run my business and make profit.. not gouge customers... " the way I read it was as follows #1 You are pretty cheap in pricing and are not even close to the other guys{ sounds like your leaving money behind " #2 You are not ripping off customers like we all are.....
Hey Joe...heres what you wrote...."there's maybe 3 other companies doing it the right way.. and charging through the roof.. so its easy to win business.".
yes and your point? im not here to RAPE customers, im hear to grow a business.. and grow it very large over the next 3 years... sorry but being at a customers house for a hour, and asking them for over a grand to me is just bad business sense... word spreads.. and if word spreads that your the rip off artist, your business is short lived.. so yes it is easy for me to get business... because when the other guys want to ask for 1600 bucks, and i say 975... i get the job.. i stake the lawn sign, and i get the neighbors phone calls... id rather do 4 jobs for 600 bucks a day and stake 4 lawn signs instead of one job for 1200 and think im the king...
but like i said, you can run your business how you want, and ill run mine the way i want..
not saying your one of those guys.. but they are the ones im talking about... and thats why word on the street is they are CRYING because they cant pay bills, vendors, or employees... I've been non stop since march, with 3-4 jobs a day.. ive blown threw 150 lawn signs, and ive very happy at the results.. i cover my over head, and have set aside a extremely good amount of money in my opinion... and i have referrels coming out my ass.. so i'm happy with the results..

Are you saying you are on average $600.00 cheaper then the others? Why not just $300.00? I think you would still get the job. Im glad your doing 3-4 a day...and your on every job...doing all the estimates and running other companys, how do you do it?
If anyone is charging an average of $600.00 a job less, he's not helping the industry, he's hurting it.
In my area, I know what the average price is and because I KNOW I am better than my competition, I am not lower, just better.
It sounds like Joe is simply "unintentionally" lowballing and I DON'T MEAN THIS INSULTINGLY.
What will happen next is other lowballers will beat him out and then others will beat them out, until Joe is doing roofs for $375.00 and there will be another lowballer who will be glad to work half a day for $200.00
I LIVE WITH THAT SITUATION here in Florida and once someone starts it [ like Joe is ] it snowballs and many people end up out of business.
I have been in business here since 1989, so I can handle the lowballer who inevitably goes out of business within a year or 2.
Not everyone can.
If the going rates in your area are $1200.00 Charge $1200.00
THAT IS MY OPINION BASED ON 23 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.
LOWBALLERS ALWAYS LOSE IN THE END.
That's my opinion, from 23 years in this business.
