Done cooking and the brats are awesome! been checking in. some questions werent answered. Like why was my title reduced, and someone else asked if anyone else loosing their title.
I also agree, but I've been down that road several times. When we were working on the 50 point standard, there was massive opposition due to people not wanting to be told how to run their business. When re-cert came due there are numerous members who did NOT re-certify even when the .org map came into existence, and now we want to streghten the cert program which will include some type of expense for members. Money is a big problem for most members that are used to everything at RCIA being free and plentiful. This is going to taks a lot of creatitivty.

Gary i can tell you the people you are thinking of are not the ones bashing it on the other forums. There are alot of people out there and they just see it for what it is. Theres no school no requirements other than 100 post and a verbal test. What there should be is a minumum requirement of say 100 hrs on the job with say 20-30 pictures of before and afters with a yard sign or the actuall person in the pictures. These are just thoughts and suggestions. Trust me AC has not bad mouth us or anything so we need to move on from that thinking.
I am a Certified Chimney Sweep. I have been since the early 90's. I recert every 2 years by going to a week long school in Indiana. My opinion.... this org should look at CSIA.org and model itself after that organization. The ONLY legit Certification in the chimney industry.
I am very happy to be here and to be certified by the RCIA.... ... this can be THE REAL DEAL if there is a clear vision, excellent leadership and believers in the dream !
We need to become a REAL ORG quickly.... before the naysayers take it down....
Why would it cost anything extra? If someone worked with me for a day to satisfy one part of the certification i would not charge them. Also the certificate can be emailed and printed out so that also saves cost as well. Using a pdf can have the test with multiple chioce and the answers can be emailed as well. There are way to cut cost down.
Your title was removed due to RCIA not liking you anymore.
You know I'm just kidding you. We all love you Mike, just instructor titles serve no purpose, and never really have. It was just a way to get people to post back in the days. Lets look for ways to improve what we have, not what we've lost.

People have to get to your location, stay overnite??, eat, time away from business and a lot are not going to agree to that. You offering your services for free could become a problem if certifications really picked up. How long would your training last and are you going to use customers homes as a training ground?
The golden egg would be to get the manufacturer to endorse our method.
The Golden Egg Ed would be our logo on shingle packaging. The manufacturer! There are other orgs out there, roof cleaning ones, that may beat us to it.
Gary i was thinking anyone within driving distance. Yes i would use customers houses as training (free labor) It would be for one day to make sure they understand chemical use and how to effectively clean a roof without overusing the chemical. Also we could limit it to 2-4 certifications per month. The best way to work it would be to pick 2 companies from each state to do a one day training and cert test this way the person dosen't have too much down time from thier business. It could work if its done right and with some guide lines.
I would basically call it labor for learning. I have no probrablem training someone that is not in our area for free. But if your in my area it will be 750 with a non compete for gloucester county.
