I would be willing to start a day training program, affiliated with the RCIA, on roof cleaning for guys to come to me for on site training if they are willing to come to my area.
I shouldve kept my mouth shut. I've been reduced to specialist, now I gotta throw away and change a bunch of stuff :(
NO you don't. If you have advertising that calls you a instructor, use it. Nobody is going to know except you and nobody is going to beat you up over it. You just won't be listed that way on the forum.

Are all the instructor titles being taken away? Also eric i strongly agree with yoh on the certification process. I would be willing to be an instructor for the certification test as well for the soutb jersey area/ philly area. Also i second that all these other bbs think our cert is ajoke. That is why we need to revamp the process so that it holds some higher value.
I don't want this taken the wrong way but, I think there should be more of a training process before becoming a certified member. Just paying a fee and having 100 posts shouldn't warrant the title certified. I am sure there have been guys in the past that have become certified without ever even cleaning a roof. I value the title and feel it should be like earning a degree. You can certainly cause a lot of damage by using the wrong process for cleaning a roof and a guy who doesn't know what he's doing because he's never actually done it, only read about the process, can devalue the certified title. I think there should me a mandatory, on site training, on a roof training before you get the title of being certified. Before promoting itI ever cleaned a roof, I called another roof cleaning contractor and paid him to spend a day on site to see the process in action. I pretty much knew everything I was seeing but, there were some valuable things I learned on The job site that you couldn't learn from reading alone. I have been on other forums and they laugh at the RCIA certification because they feel it has no value because anyone Who pays the fee and has 100 posts is certified. I like the fact of being RCIA certified and feel I have earned it and just think to make the title more valuable, it should be harder to achieve. JMHO
Your comment has some merit, but also some fallicies The people that are critizing our certification, are the same people that helped design it, and then stole it and sold it to DeLux, and then NCE (Ron) and are now promoting it on other forums. Theirs is a one day class, no posting requirements, no webinars, no online tests, no field training, etc., and then they got the balls to critize us and say our certification is a joke. Says a whole lot about their character.
Even though I just got certified . I agree! I know some will say that it is because I'm already certified. Well anyone that has talked to me or has PM me, knows that I have read my ass off on this forum, and also knows I know my chit about Roofing. I have been swinging a hammer and been in business for over 25yrs. I was thrilled when Chris Tucker was offering his school 6 months ago, but when it went on hold it was a major bummer. If anyone else Offered me the opportunity to go with them for a few days I would have done it in a heart beat. Here I am a year later than when i found this forum and ready to go. I realized last spring that i wasn't ready with the proper knowledge to offer roof cleaning and have my customers best interest at heart. If some of you remember my very !st post back in Sept it was (realistic expectations) and had to do with trying roof cleaning the following spring, which is now. I had the ability to walk away last spring and not push a bad business move and hurt this business, not all will do this. Certification needs to be tougher. I agree with Eric
Ps . When Chris Tucker offered it again I was still going to go school with Chris Tucker just wasnt right timing.!!
Eric, originally a few guys were looking to make certifications their little cash cow. They wanted yearly fees and yearly continuing ed(webinars); they even wanted to allow roof pressure washing. The cert. committee came up with a nice compromise. Chris wanted to take control again and get things moving, so he kept things basically the way they were. Their was a period of 4-8 months were no certs. were taking place. I was only a few post away, so I was a little mad.
Gary i can tell you the people you are thinking of are not the ones bashing it on the other forums. There are alot of people out there and they just see it for what it is. Theres no school no requirements other than 100 post and a verbal test. What there should be is a minumum requirement of say 100 hrs on the job with say 20-30 pictures of before and afters with a yard sign or the actuall person in the pictures. These are just thoughts and suggestions. Trust me AC has not bad mouth us or anything so we need to move on from that thinking.
I didn't post my post to be mean to anyone I just think it needs some more thought in the process!!!
Back when the certification committee was working on the new program, there was very little input by members and anything that was brought up by committee members was put on hold due to the timing not being right for the other plans some had. When a certain member found out he was not going to teach webinars at $40.00 a person, he got mad and thats when Chris stepped in and said what we got now is what we were going to use. Then it got stolen and sold to other forums.

AC is NOT the people I am talking about. Why do you always think he is the center of my posts. I could care less what or why he does anything.
