We've gone after solely organic rankings in our first three seasons of business, but I won't rule out setting aside some 'war funds' for PPC. Anyone have any words of wisdom to share? Much like Service Magic, I've heard of pros and cons. I'd be interested in any info that anyone is willing to share.
I have had a campaign going for a couple weeks. I have had a few calls from my campaign and have spent less than $45. Basically just set up the radius you would like your ad to run in and be very specific with your keyword string. If your string is "roof cleaning" I would suggest broad match for your keywords. If it's your first campaign just be sure to set a daily limit in case you make a mistake!

So you see the click-thru on your web stats to determine if the leads come via PPC vs organic? Thanks for the insight!
Eric, I do Adwords here in the Harrisburg-Mechanicsburg market. Most of my clicks are from the non certified competitors here. Average industry keywords are around 4.00-4.50 per click. I track IP addresses and know who visits my sites from adwords.
If you start an adwords campaign... we need to make sure we do not bid against each other and raise the per click price sky high. Neither of us would win.
Bidding against each other... we could push the cost per key word up to 50.00 a word, instead of the 4.00 it is now. Hey, if that's what you want..... I have DEEEEP pockets. (earned by hard work )
I have owned very competitive and successful companies since 1985. I am NO NEWBIE to business or competition.
I was simply stating, that since you are new to adwords, I would not advise to set your CPC up to a HIGH $$$$. You took my advice the wrong way.
Ok, trying not to get too worked up here before church....

I am not missing ANYTHING!!! You need to worry about you and not me. Adwords, is just a small peice of my marketing puzzle, I do VERY well with organic searches and just recently started an Adwords campaign, just as you recently did. I have allowed my CPC to be set by Google, I set daily spending limits and I will determine MY spending limit, keywords, locations and allowing Adwords determine my CPC. The industry sets the value or cost of keywords, how you and I use those keywords doesn't affect the CPC. Now if you start clicking my ad and and I yours, then and only THEN, do we have a problem.
My pockets are DEEP just like yours. Just like you, mine was earned by hard work, which I post here and on Youtube regularly for all to see. You should have plenty of work to show too, since you've been around so very long. Let's see some! I too have run a successful business(A&E Painting) for over 20 years and work hard everyday and have built one h*ll of a roof cleaning business over the last 4 years. My suguestion is that the 2 of us avoid each other in these posts because I am not one to lay down when someone starts firing off at me. Just like you did last week in your promo post.
This will be the very last post I write to you! Good luck to you.
