A normal site map on a website is just a PAGE with every link on your website. I'm not sure why Ugly chose to use the term site map for their links page. Don't be confused.

You are exactly correct! We called it "site map" because the plan was something different when we first started building the site. In theory it does the samething so we left it.
I have a question in regards to the procedure. Say I link to RCIA in my links page, does that help although the site doesnt link back to me? Should my link to the site have a post made by me on a certain thread? Like Id link this thread to my site since my signature is on it?
Why wouldnt anyone be able to link to this site for its popularity even people not related to the industry? How do cross links differ from just links? Also Ive read quite a bit on here about public/private posting and SEO. My posts on this private forum wont show up on SEO. I need all the SEO help I can get and anything I should be doing would be greatly appreciated.
OK, if you walk in a Bar by yourself, you are just a guy.
But if you are with A celebrity, all the sudden you become more important.
So, you should always link to what are called Authority Sites dedicated to roof cleaning, like the RCIA Forum or the RCIA.ORG for instance, or www.saferoofcleaning.com my personal website, because Google will see you as more important.
The best link is a reciprocal link, and when you post on the RCIA Forums Open sections, you get that if you link back here.
Linking to here for a concrete finisher or a shrimp boat captain will do them no good, because they are unrelated to what this site is for.
But If you are a roof cleaner, you want to link back here, and you want links COMING from here.
