All Of You Rock Flyer Guys.......Question?

why not just have your flyers made to USPS specs and take advantage of their new direct mailer program.. you can dial down to specific mail routes so you can avoid apartment complexes and neighborhoods you dont think will have extra money to spend on your service... it ends up being about 12-14 cents per peice mailed.. it looks a lot more professional..and saves you the time from having to drive around, and make up the baggies.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO DRIVE AND FLYER SEE BELOW..

if your driving around flyering.. make sure you make your flyer up so you can WRITE IN A PRICE when leaving it at a house... i bet youll get a lot more calls backs if the price for that customers house is already on the flyer you leave.... a friend does this for seal coating and has almost a 90% sale response..

Smaller is better. If theyre too big and a wind blows you'll feel like an ass when you fling it with all of your might just to have it helicopter back at you.

yea but you gotta mark the flyers some how, or create your own records, because what's to say he doesn't give it to a friend with a huge roof?

I had mixed results with the bags. The first time I got 3 jobs in 2 hours of throwing. I got 2 more jobs in 30 hours of throwing. Way too much work. I'm going to throw my remaining ones and if I don't get a great response I'm done with them.

not true.. you have to make the flyers YES, you do NOT need addresses with the new USPS program..

you used to have to have a address for everything, with the new program they created, you do not need any adderss, and you can do up to 5k at a time.

EDIT: I thought you were talking about records for addresses to mail too.. as for your pricing.. if you are in a neighborhood, and you always clean a full roof, chances are, most roofs in that neighborhood are going to be the same price give or take.. if you think a guy is going to take a flyer, drive 10 miles away to his friend to give him your flyer.. i think your just over thinking it too much. i dont think people would be inclined to do that just to save a few bucks for their friend and not their own pocket.

check this out guys....

https://www.usps.com/business/every-door-direct-mail.htm

I had 10,000 DOUBLE SIDED flyers printed for about $450 bucks.. it cost me about $300 for a graphic designer to design..

but since they are not designed, i can just keep getting them printed. so my cost will be $450 plus shipping which is about .13 cents per.. i think spending money here is cheaper then my time is worth making flyers to drive around and throw. its just a thought.

I did double sided, one side is roof cleaning, the other side is pressure washing/deck restoration.

well your the first I've ever heard of that happening. like i said, i have friend that have used that technique and they get HUGE call backs, plus it saves them the time of having to go out and do another estimate.

no ones saying you have to do it lol. just a idea i'm throwing out there..

It's a great Idea, I also write the price and address on the back of his flyer and he has to show it to me!

Not a good idea to give the price. Give them just enough to raise interest. Get them to call and start asking questions. Give yourself a chance to explain what your offering and what's involved. THEN talk about price. I've done roofs where my bid was higher than a quoted flyer. Sell service, not price. We're not selling a well known product which is a great plus for us.

I'm with Ed on this, any price is too high to 50% of HO, sell them on the value, up sell them on other services, create an educational presentation, then they will like and trust you, that is how I think that is how we high pricing achieved. In essence, they think they are paying us to clean their shingles, what they are really paying for is for us to protect their property, and for us not to hurt ourselves while doing it. I have tried the quick price strategy, it does not give you the foundation that relationships are based on. I cleaned a 4500sq ft driveway two months ago for 400.00, 3 hours with hot water, surface cleaner, made little money, but I was on a roof right up the street, so I did it. We did create a relationship, HO asked my salesman if he knew anybody to help with sinking service walk and basement leak.

I jumped on it.

We just completed a 10K concrete, stamped ribbon porch and sidewalk, replaced wood rot band board, flashed it correctly, and installed 90 ft of PVC drain line, now we are selling them 3K in gutters. My margin was 25% on 10k, I'm going up to 33%, client would have been happy to pay it. Just my two cents, which is what the above might be worth.

Roof cleaning is more than a quick price, just my opinion and experience.

I like the look of the 4x9 postcards, but the 4x6s seem to throw a lot better.  I'm gonna try this out for the 2012 season.

Clyde, are you offering free delivery on your rocks?
