I think its 40%SH 12%, 1once of dawn per gal and 60% water. Where does the ammoxy-lo and tsp come into play? and how much of each do i use? Can someone please get me straight.
Ammonx-lo is used instead of dawn, there is the surfactant factor in the mix, usually the lo is for your more steep jobs to minimize the run-off and allow the mix to dwell longer to be more effective, TSP is the kicker in the mix if need be, you need to watch the TSP factor around glass as it will etch it, it ruins glass so doorwalls and those fancy bay/bow windows can catch it if your not careful using it. One more thing is TSP is not always welcome (illegal)in certain states so you need to ck that out. I think many guys dumped the TSP factor to eliminate risk.
The recipes ( tile/asphalt/metal/etc) are all over the forum and the best advice I can give is get your set-up done and practice with water and some surfactant in the mix to learn how the flow will go with individual tips you might use. Also helps to get some practice in so your not fumbling in the field.
There is so much info and reading through the threads is your best source based on the many experiences compiled from all the guys here.
Best of luck and when you get stuck ask away, someone will answer. Kim R
I'm outside of Philly ... did my dirtiest roof of the season today (& left my camera at home) ... 2 coats, 33% SH with Ammonyx, used TSP once this year, all the other times the roofs looked great without it ... luckily we have some rain the next few days so I'll check it out Thurdsay
Thanks for the tip on TSP and ammonx-lo. If i can lower the risk factor while cleaning these immaculate home in my area, i'm all for it! sh+ammonx-lo+H2O=my choice.
hi John, most of the roofs we do are pretty steep so i use ammonyx m instead of lo ... you'll use less of it and there's not much of a difference in price. i've tried both and prefer the m.
you'll be fine with those 3 ingredients, some guys use a fragrance to hide the SH smell, i never have because i always disclose exactly what we use and never lost a customer because of it.
the EPA requires that you disclose to your customers what you use. if it doesn't come up than so be it, but if a customer asks or it's just part of your sales pitch, always disclose that you'll be spraying their roof with sodium hypochlorite ... it's not a subject to shy away from anyway!!!
i use about 1/4 gal for a 50 gal mix ... could probably get away using a little less, but it seems like every roof i do is 7/12 minimum, and i've yet to master the art of controlling my runoff
you have to order it from Don at Brainerds, he's in NC ... it's about $70 shipped
hit "ammonyx m" in the search, there's a ton of info, including his contact info
