If you're a successful power washing company owner and are just now branching out to roof cleaning, or are considering roof cleaning, perhaps we should talk.
We've expanded our service area this fall and we're on the cusp of expanding services to include soft-washing exteriors (residential and commercial). The reason for this post is that we're also looking very seriously at expanding again to include commercial flatwork.
With the capital investment being much higher for commercial flat work and with lower margins (commodities based business), it be great to find someone that could ramp me up very quickly to include advising of the pitfalls, equipment recomendations (reclaim, 8 GPM hot machines) etc.
I would offer the same WRT Roof Cleaning for the right person.
Just something to consider and gauge interest if nothing else. (And I'd provide BASIC financials to anyone that wanted to ensure that we're successful in the roof cleaing business prior to making such an agreement.)
I'd have a mentor a phone call away (within reason) and so would you......
Once I watched a guy going around JUST cleaning concrete in high end residential neighborhoods. Ted, he had a MONSTER Machine, that turned out to be what is called a Sewer Jetter.
I guess it was capable of like 10,000 psi and 10 Gpm, or something crazy like that. It was just cold water, but it rocked!
He had it turned way down, but still it cleaned really fast.
Weve got 8gpm machines for washing exteriors, but I hear that most big time flat work guys stick with 5.5 gpm machines. I guess they clean good, dont use as much water and dont create as much runoff.
Reclaim isnt a must have starting out. Maybe not after that either, depending on what/where you are cleaning.

Thanks Chris - great information. Are your 8 GPM machines not capable of running at 4 GPM (x2 or otherwise)? 2 5.5 hot water machines would run up the maintenance costs, but I like your thinking..
Re reclaim, I'm in the early phases of research on that. We have a couple of value differentiators with the roof cleaning business that have really done us well, and I see recclaim as one for flatwork, not to mention staying out of trouble with the feds. (We're in watershed territory for the bay.) Thanks for your insight.
Chris, do you have hot or cold water units? I've been thinking of going away from residential and getting more into commercial pressure washing this year.
I would love to help you ...the problem is I try everyday to figure out the best way to clean and reclaim and it seems it changes on every job. Never the same way on any job.
One day I wake up and I think trailers are the way to go. Next week I'm buying a flatbed ...or I'm putting skids in the back of f250.
All thru the summer ...2 weeks ago I decide to sell all the equipment this winter and buy new units ........yikes
The good news I have other friends doing the same thing.
