I'm all for being nice to new people, but the more I stick around the more I see people taking the info and bouncing. Its not about the money, cuz God knows we don't see any of it. It's more about getting a commitment from someone so we know we are not creating fly-by-nighters in some other premium members backyard. It's all fun and games until your competing against someone who milked the forum for info and bounced. I guess I see it different because I donated more than a few times before premium came into effect. Its not to toot my own horn but its that I knew this place was worth being supported and I would get that money back many fold.

I agree. The questions being asked could also have been found by taking the time and searching the forum for them. I wasn't spoon fed and nor should anyone that does not want to support the RCIA cause.
Guys, Im not stealing any "premium" business members clients or any of that. In fact yes, I do landscaping and I am branching into roof cleaning. My clients have been asking if I know anyone that does it in the area. So I researched it and there is no one within 40 miles and even then there are maybe 2. I mean that is how you grow your business and make money isn't it? Give me a break its not like im a 45 year old guy who is out of a job and bought a cheap mower and a 5ft trailer and it out cut-throating ever other guy to make a dollar. Then saw some dirty roofs and is going after them until the market turns around. Im 21 years old, full time college student with a part time job designing and building blast-proof military Humvees and trying to get my business off the ground. I pay my taxes I have a LLC and I am fully insured. There are other forums on roof cleaning and I could find other websites with just as much information by using google, which I did. But by glancing through it seemed like this would be a useful forum to get some info. Most other forums I belong to such as powerstroke.org and Lawnsite.com dont charge for there forum and they are some of the most helpful people I have come across. Sorry to step on anyone's toes by asking for information!

Unless you been here for a while you couldnt possibly explain, in a manner that makes sense, that gaining enough info to get equipment and get started then claiming this is why you cant swing $100.00 (which I almost spent on a lunch for 2), is putting the cart before the horse.
hey I get it I have been reading on here since june and several other forums but to quote an old post "some people spent their last dollar on a dream of roof cleaning" I joined cause I know you guys are trying to help people become true pros and not hacks your preaching to the converted I just think if you are mean to every newbie that comes here it won't work
Ok Clay fair enough, you understand what is trying to be accomplished here. But some of these guys who are chiming in have been here for years and are tired of being " overly friendly " to every Tom,Dick and Harry that comes on here. Now Lee here who goes to school { probably lives home rent free } and already has a business or two went out buying new equipment as he stated and now wants to learn roof cleaning....basically for free. I will tell you why that is, he has several post just striaght out asking what to do showing no real sign of searching and learning from reading { I guess he does alot of that in college }He mentions he is not a forty year old coming into landscaping with throat cutting prices { a sign that he has seen it happening in his own field, and now will do it in yours, but it's ok hes in his twenties and is entitled } I asked him to become a premium member and stop taking info for free and he states what? He's broke? He got lucky because he had just enough to pay Bob at pressure tech. The info on other boards must not be as good or he wouldn't have come here, but I guess Lee is used to geeting/taking what he wants and is just another sponge that we all have seen on here before. So Clay, he has been pointed in the " right " direction for help and blows it off, so now I feel Lee is fair game for any comments. So Lee lets put it this way, a test of character if you will. I say Join or go back to all the other boards you are so fond of, and for any premium member who continues to support a straight out moocher I say " When they are in your back yard dirt cheap, you got nothing to cry about.

Well by all the attitude i'm guessing most of you must be the 45 year old guys who lost there job in the economy and decided to run out to try to make a quick buck and are worried that someone else is going to do the same thing and steal your business haha.. The people who are confident in there work on this site have nothing to worry about and that's why they have offered there opinions.... Oh and by the way, for no more bandwidth than this site uses it costs less than 15$ a month to upkeep..so your 100$ to all the good info is going into someones pocket.. Ill just keep protecting our troops and use the money to grow and learn from the people who are willing to help.. Later

I don't believe you are helping the troops, unless of course it is benefiting you big time. It's funny, I always found the ones who really help others never mention it or pat them selves on the back. I have always said I don't care who on here { that is keeping the board up and running } gets money. Am I over forty? Damn right and I finished one career { retired 2004 } and now am I looking to see where life takes me. I can always spot a skater, glad to see you go.

you're taking a pretty hard shot there, if you had a family to support you probably wouldn't make such a ridiculous statement ... and for somebody who takes such pride in protecting our troops, perhaps you didn't think you might've offended a few former ones? good luck
See we don't want his $100. Lori will take care of him real nice like......
Poor Bill,
Do you still have a problem with me? Why don't you Man Up and return my phone calls rather than take a jab on a board that you do not support?
Actually I was just trying to lighten the mood of the thread. I never had a personal problem with you though we did have some business problems. You have never tried to call me recently. Since you don't know, no one ever has or ever will support the RCIA as much as I have. I have the bank statements, receipts etc from my expenses here to prove it, as well as all the minutes, recording etc. I created the member fee, took us to two trade shows and just a couple months ago donated MY money in the name of RCIA to the Make-a-Wish fund. just because I stopped working in management of a corporation that no longer exists does not mean I do not support the good people at RCIA. I still talk to many members here.
Guys look I think you are all making a lot of heated judgements, new guy included. Remember there is a lot of emotion read out of posts that is not always there. When we start critique everyone's exact words it gets really ugly fast.
You are right Bill, it is easy to " mis interpret " a post. But i think " the new guy" was an "easy read "Always glad to see you on here Bill....thanks for all you have done and continue to do.

Wow, SOS as always on this site, its strange to think that in May of 2010 everyone thought this site was the bomb.......no more,,,,
Give the newbies a f'ing break, they ask questions and get their azz's handed to them, if you have an issue with the new ones, send them PM's.........
Yes my crap is still sitting in the shed, for sale, could care less if it sells....miss talking to you Lori-))
