My guys and I are all taking dancing lessons, just in case any of our clients have an extra $5 million laying around that they're willing to part with. (For $10 million we will have strippers come out and clean your roof).
I have a question for you Ted. Are you better being a so-called jack of all trades and working everyday for less money? Or pick your highest paying service and only doing those jobs? I wrestled around with that in the spring.
What's wrong Mike? Do you miss AC, or are your panties all twisted up for another reason?
is that gonna be the answer for everything? Oh you miss AC ! shut the f up. I just think ted asked a legitamate question and you came back with an answer from outer space!

Therein lies the million dollar question Tom. (To me anyway) I think we'll find there are different answers for different folks, for a number of reasons. Since you've asked, we've targeted roofs and only roofs. I don't claim to have a pressure washing company, and all that we advertise is roof restoration/roof cleaning.
Having said that, I'm sure we've left a lot of money "on the table" the last two years by not marketing the other associated/related services. However; it's afforded me a lifestyle that I never imagined. I work a few days a week, and took last winter off completely. I may do the same this winter, where I'll focus on SEO when I want to be productive. Or maybe be a ski bum
Realistically, an additional 1K/week would seem very reasonable if I were to add house washes and the like to our portfolio. It's a lot more mainstream, and the demand is relatively high, although competition is as well. I would have to say goodbye to my 2-3 day work week then though.
Although I'm still on the fence, I'm leaning towards expanding our marketing and operating area instead. I've heard that MD can be a PITA for small businesses, so I'll need to check in to that first. It seems as if many MD contractors are advertising and working in NOVA, so why not return the favor. There's also the VA counties to the south and west of me that I could go after although they're less populated.
Oh yes, I've got another idea up my sleeve that I'll test out first. I beta tested it yesterday. Time will tell. We haven't talked for a long while Tom. Catch up on the phone tomorrow if you're free?
Mike-Ted and I have met in person & that's the type of answer he would expect of me. I'm sorry your thong is all bunched up, but telling me, or anyone else for that matter, to "shut the f up" is just plain rude. I believe it's also against the rules of this forum, but I'm not sure. Perhaps Larry, Tom, Kim, or one of the other moderators will contact you concerning your behavior. But then again perhaps not. Either way, please mind your manners.
-restoration of faded vinyl shutters -replacement of rubber collars around pipe flashing (sometimes I'll offer this for free to close the deal, it only cost about $2.50/pc in material) -basic roof inspection -gutter cleanout -gutter guard (Leaf Relief made by Alcoa only, this is the only ones that I found that actually work) -cleaning of the skylight glass -gutter whitening -roofing repairs -siding repairs -flashing repairs -gutter repairs -old antennae or satellite dish removal (for some reason satellite installers in our area only remove the dish and not the base)
We do offer full exterior remodeling services, but with the roof cleaning side of the business I like to get in and out and collect the payment. I make less per day doing a complete remodel, I have to put all kinds of money out ahead of time to do the work, and usually have to wait for final payment. This is all more of the reason I'm gearing myself towards small repairs/services and roof cleaning. I like to get paid immediately and don't really have to put much money out ahead of time.
Haven't been on much, don't have the time. Busy as all get up. This two or three days a week keeps me booked 3 and 4 weeks out.
Anyway, thought I'd read some interesting threads and see there still is the back and forth over he said she said. Was hoping maturity had found it's way in here. Though it is appearant only a small few have yet to reach the professional level.
The moderators need to take action. Some are lucky I don't have the time right now but the day is coming. LOL
