Hi Kevin.  Shipping on the battery and the tank prevents me from making an offer on the whole package.  If you part it out, I'll take the Flojet presuming you have the fittings that come with it.  Thanks!

Hmmm? The tank. I'll have to find room for it on new trailer I'm building. I 5 gallon everything. Last couple weeks, I been making up 15- 20 gallons in advance, on site. Seems to save time with roof washing. Sure I could build some supports to piggy back this tank on top of something else? How much for the 50 gallon tank?

mike why not have a 50 or 100 mix tank make your mix in the morning and make a 50 gallon or 100 gallon mix depending on work load and go from there. You are only gonna have a little left and if you do you can pump it out or reuse it within a day or two.

What your doing now is a time killer.

Oh I believe more are to come and not just from Texas.

It's one thing to know how to clean a roof and another to run a roof cleaning business. What will be interesting is who is left two or three years from now.

I think alot start out and get a few roof jobs and try to make this a full time living not realizing there are ups and downs with any business. I enjoy the part time element of this service and never put all my eggs in one basket. I have turned down jobs because someone wanted to play the price game. When you don't need the work you can hold your ground and take a pass. I have done that on a few jobs only to have them call me back at a later time agreeing to the quote.

Then there is the passion factor. People get on here and other forums and listen to all the stories of " how great the world is roof cleaning" and get passionate about it and then reality sets in and the passion dies.

If you don't have marketing and networking skills your behind the 8 ball! Doesn't matter what type of service you offer.

Then there is the season within the season to consider. During this hot weather of late I have had customers concerned about me cleaning their roof and said should be put off till fall or cooler weather. Alot of people are not thinking home improvement right now, they want camping, swimming, skiing, vacations, etc. This will put a hurt on a full time service if you don't have cash flow.

Anyway you cut it, there are many factors that play into I am selling out. I believe it is alot more to do with cutting the loses.

Start small, stay small and think big!

I am already setting the stage for next season.

Bruce, you said it well.  Gary says it clearly, too: You're one of the leaders to emulate here.

Shortly after I first visited RCIA, I went to your site and watched your video.  Your presentation and your ability to explain the problem, the compelling reasons the problem should be addressed, the benefits to the property owner, and your competent solution, were convincing beyond most things I've seen.  It all spelled capability, honesty, and integrity in my mind.

It's clear to me why you enjoy success and longevity in this business, Bruce.

Here's to the bright future.

Cheers,

Al
