We've cleaned several, where the insurance company required the roof be cleaned before they would renew the home owners policy.

Sounds like a great idea, I will have to talk with my insurance agent and send them to RCIA website so that they can see how important roof cleaning is.

Well, it turned out to be a dirty roof like she said, but she forgot to mention the ROOF LEAK that she has. I went up top and checked it for her. There is no real visible damage. I'm passing this one along to a local roofing company. biggrin

I recently had a customer who was also a new homeowner (via short sale - the place needs a little work). His insurance company stopped by and cancelled his policy after seeing the very poor state of the roof (lots of moss, lichen and algae).

He hired us to prolong the life of the roof by cleaning it and to be certain his new insurance company wouldn't have any issues it.

The roof turned out great - no more insurance concerns for him.

I get a good amount of calls from home owners who are about to get dropped from mostly moss and I also have a few roofing companies that forward over there calls from same situation.
