I started this thread when I purchased my second pump from Bob with the accumulator. I hadnt realized at the time that the pump I purchased was set higher than the previous one, so I thought the accumulator was providing the extra distance. I even convinced Pat from LI that it was the greatest thing. I was wrong. I question the value of an accumulator. I agree at the initial turning on the pump that the accumulator will provide initial charge and may help the pump sort of "glide into action". But after that I cannot see the value. The accumulator will quickly balance out to the setting of the pump psi. Once you shut your wand valve the pump works to recharge the bladder of the expansion tank. It would make sense that a very large expansion tank would help if there was adjustable hi-lo pressure switch that would allow the expansion tank to do much of the work before the pump kicks in. But this tank seems far too small to have any reel effectiveness. Plus the push-in connections are weak and give me headaches. This item was designed for something other than this pump, but someone along the lines thought it would help and I bought into it. SO I am retracting my feelings of this item.
